Re: Backgammon
Hey dave. I would've posted earlier, but I'm afraid I don't know anything about backgammon Despite that, I do see some flaws:
Ok
1. You can't make it so one player can only attack clockwise and another player can only attack counterclockwise.
Red counters can attack white and visa-versa ...

Re: Backgammon
Graphics have been improved as that was the only comment regarding the map...are there no other opinions regarding this ...good, bad, ugly, waste of time, can't wait to test it, don't understand what can attack, suggest changes, etc etc

Re: Backgammon
Graphics can always be improved on.
Bonuses can be for all counters per colour in the same section, all counters per section, all counters per colour on the board, all counters per colour in the tray.

Re: The Wild West
Continuing what Victor Sullivan said...adding more Wild West regions would help it along, my suggestions would be to add;
Jails - bonus for holding X amount of outlaws plus a jail
Banks - Bonus same as above
Allow lawmen to have a better attack...maybe 2 regions away

Backgammon
A few people don't like my Colourful map because it has no theme, although I like it as a game map...
So I had an idea to create a Backgammon themed map and this is what I came up with...
Regions are the counters (including the 30 that are in the tray).
Black move Clockwise, white move anti ...

Re: Colourful Map
Updated image on the first post ...
47 territories is one of the "golden" territory numbers because no matter how many players are playing the map, each person won't get a multiple of 3 territories, so the first person to play can't get an extra +1 over the later players that he takes a territory ...

Frogger
I thought of a classic arcade map and thought of frogger...searching the forum I found a thread from 2006.
Anyone think it could be worth pursuing?
[bigimg]http://videogamersoasis.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2009/03/frogger_game_arcade.png[/bigimg]
Obviously update the graphics etc...any thoughts?

Re: Colourful Map
1. Not sure if "Center and overlapping regions can attack each other" is clear enough. Can Blue 1-Cyan 2 attack Cyan 1-Cyan 2? Can Blue 2-Magenta 1 and Magenta 2 attack each other? I suggest attack route lines. You could set the opacity really low, so it's not distracting.

Region Coords
I had a Spot The Ball web site and thought I'd change the code to display coords for map makers to use so they can create the XML coords easier...

But when I came here to post this message, I noticed there is already quite a few already here
Anyway, it's here if you need it

Re: Colourful Map
1. Change the "Light" areas to just "3's" (i.e. instead of "Light Cyan", just have "Cyan 3"). Just a personal preference there.
I'll make the changes and see what it's like but would probably look better.
2. Could you explain the bonuses to me? I'm afraid I'm not entirely sure what you mean ...

Re: Colourful Map
I was thinking the same thing, I'll keep the inward one way attacks to help with the objective of capturing the central White circle.
What's everybodys thoughts on the single small White circle as the goal or the large coloured White circle with 7 regions as the goal?

Re: Colourful Map
Thanks for you input, I'll think about the one way attacks.
The namings will be "Red1" for center region of red1 and "Red1-Magenta2" for the region between red1 and magenta2, LightRed-Red1, LightRed-LightYellow, etc etc.
The coloured set bonus is on top of the circle bonus so if you own a full set ...

Re: Colourful Map
I didn't quite understand the "wheel" suggestions so I made changes to show a type of wheel, this creates more continents and regions, but still keeps the original concept of simplicity...
