Surely another player should be picked as PM so they can at least try and sort out their first task and then make any adjustments when reserve has been appointed. Is it possible for TPTB to cancel off the 8 player games so that those of us who have already been eliminated don't lose points?

There are currently 12 x 8 player games which are listed below:

If you try to play an 8 player game then you are eliminated by a neutral player as soon as you start your turn. This will give the player who plays last the game by default and all other players lose points.
