but the problem with THIS is if SJ (5393) beats Alangary(1), then SJ would get :
((1/5393)*20-((5393-1)/1000) = 0-5.4 = -5.4 (rounded), a NEGATIVE number! He'd lose points, even though he won. THAT would stop farming cooks!
Well there could be a bottom cap at 1 or 0, there is a top cap at 100 ...

Um, I didn't read the whole thread, but I think what he's suggesting is basically
((opponents score/your score)^2) * 20 if you win. So basically just square it before multiplying by 20.
with this, a 3,200 point player say, beating a 800 point player, would normally get 5 points, would now get 1 ...

Re: rabbiton and maxatstuy, it sounds fishy.
They just like to farm noobs a lot for easy points, if you search 1v1 freestyle games every now and then, you'll find a few a day to get points off of.

The only problem I see with having multiple scoreboards and having all score adjustments based on overall score, is that someone could abuse one scoreboard by losing a bunch of games in one type to lower their overall, then winning alot in another category, and repeating so they always win alot in ...

And also it's highly unlikely that anyone on this site will have <10 points. Right now the lowest score on the site is 65.
the minimum loss of 10 points makes it much easier to get player with <10 points though.
This is why I highly doubt a new formula would be implemented, all the low ranks ...

err I just realized I messed up the formulas a bit, the (loser's points)/(winner's points) is actually multiplied by 20, not just left as it is..so change my formula to
10+(10)(loser's points)/(winner's points), that makes more sense.

I think the best way to stop these extreme low or high point gains would be to change the point formula, but I'm sure that will never happen.
If it did though, I think this would be the best way to go:
Current formula: (loser's points)/(winner's points)
New formula: 10 + (.5)(loser's points ...
