it is odd, i am not sure i have ever lost a troop against a capital city. seriously. try it.

I'm in the middle of a couple of dubs games, and taking capitals seems like a "only try if you happen to have armies in the region and it'll secure the whole bonus for you" thing.

What's the idea of the "Gameplay Objectives" of holding the four capitals? Does it get you anything extra?

Yeah, you win the game if you hold a Gameplay objective.
