Ability to invite players to private games

Post by mjtrish »

It would be nice to have the capability to invite players to a specific private game without having to send a pm. It will save time and help in the organization of private games.

I was thinking something along the lines of the invite function in yahoo chess but adapted to send an automatic pm to the players with the game #, game settings, current players signed up, and a brief message. It could have a drop down menu of all users and allow for invites to multiple people. Ideally, you can send it to your clan or pre-specified user groups. To avoid abuse, safegaurds could be put in place to only allow a certain number of game invites or the ability to ignore invites.

what does everyone think?

This would be a very good feature. And mainly with a accept button you click and join the game already. If you dislike, you can simply ignore the invitation.

It sounds to me like a hell of a lot more work for Lack to set that up than it takes for you to send a daggum PM.

You know, your name appears just above your avatar... and it's not your real name... so signing it is doubly silly.

well, if you guys have a recognized clan or usergroup then why not just post the game and password in a forum that only members of your group belong to? That would be easier then sending multiple pms and lack doesnt have to work to make it.

It's probably not worth the effort but I think it is a good idea. It would definitely be a ncie feature and would increase the user-friendliness of this site. But I think there are more important suggestions that should take lack's focus for a while. So good idea, but in my opinion its low priority.

Since we don't know exactly how much work it requires just vote on the concept. If it is a lot of work Lack will let us know.

I'm afraid this would be too much buck for the bang to make it a priority.
