Easy. The UK, Spain, Belgium, etc. have more per capita deaths than the U.S. (And liberals have been saying for years we need to model our health system after Europe's.)
Apparently you're not keeping up with the latest info - We've surpassed the UK in per-capita deaths, but we're still behind Peru, Belgium, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Spain, and Ecuador.
That's it.
You know who we're doing worse than?
United Kingdom, Mexico, Italy, Sweden, Panama, Colombia, France, Argentina, Moldova, Netherlands, Ireland, North Macedonia, Armenia, Iran, South Africa, Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Aruba, Canada, Romania, Honduras, Switzerland, Iraq, French Guiana, Luxembourg, Dominican Republic, Guatemala, Oman, Portugal, Montserrat, Israel, Costa Rica, Suriname, Kyrgyzstan, Bahrain, Kuwait, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Albania, El Salvador, Paraguay, Bulgaria, Germany, Denmark, Serbia, Eswatini, Turkey, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Austria, Belarus, Libya, Hungary, Qatar, Slovenia, India, Sao Tome and Principe, Croatia, Poland, Belize, Maldives, Czechia, Palestine, Equatorial Guinea, Finland, Morocco, Egypt, Azerbaijan, Djibouti, Lebanon, Trinidad and Tobago, Philippines, Norway, Estonia, Namibia, Gambia, UAE, Algeria, Indonesia, Caribbean Netherlands, Jamaica, Afghanistan, Greece, Australia, Lithuania, Bangladesh, Pakistan, DRC, French Polynesia, Gabon, Barbados, Tunisia, Nicaragua, Guinea-Bissau, Haiti, Sudan, Latvia, Venezuela, Senegal, Zambia, Réunion, Nepal, Cyprus, Liberia, Cameroon, Kenya, Zimbabwe, Hong Kong, Uzbekistan, Uruguay, Japan, Georgia, Ethiopia, Syria, Cuba, Ghana, Slovakia, Malawi, Sierra Leone, Madagascar, South Korea, Jordan, Mauritius, Brunei, Botswana, Mali, Myanmar, Somalia, Togo, Nigeria, Chad, Guinea, New Zealand, Singapore, Malaysia, South Sudan, China, Niger, Burkina Faso, Rwanda, Fiji, Mozambique, Iceland, Uganda, Western Sahara, Thailand, Papua New Guinea, Sri Lanka, Tanzania, Vietnam, Taiwan, Angola, Mauritania, Ivory Coast, Bahamas, Congo, Guyana, Cabo Verde, Guadeloupe, Andorra, Mayotte, Benin, Malta, Isle of Man, Sint Maarten, Martinique, Bermuda, Saint Martin, Turks and Caicos, Antigua and Barbuda, Monaco, British Virgin Islands, Curaçao, Liechtenstein, Cayman Islands, and Burundi.
The United States was ranked the best-prepared country in the world to handle a pandemic (Thanks, Obama!), and here we are 8th from the bottom. It's pathetic and a disgrace. It's like an NFL team going 7-177 against a collection of college, HS and Pop-Warner teams because the quarterback decided that instead of actually trying to win, he'd rather go golfing and hold pep rallies in the parking lot, and then blame the grounds crew for the loss.
It's worse than a complete and utter failure to lead. Trump was actively and deliberately sabotaging the country, discouraging testing, lying to the public about how bad he knew the virus was, and encouraging behavior that ensured more Americans would die, all because he thought that it would hit blue states the hardest and would help his chances at re-election so he could stay out of prison a bit longer.
