I could be totally wrong. I mean, they attack each other. But surely these player names cry out to be looked at more closely ...
They've played a few games together, but they haven't only played each other. Perhaps if they are merely related they just need someone to suggest that one of them choose another name.

It looks to be just a coincidence, but I could be wrong. The two seem to have different playing abilities, sometimes they team together and other times compete against each other. The likelyhood of them being relatives/ at least familiar with each other is higher though, since in one game #1 referred to #2 by first name basis.

that's absurd......you should be able to play against family members as long as you aren't ganging up on others, which doesn't seem to be the case. it's a father and son enjoying a game together. let it be.

Yup they seem to play fair. I think there should be something to avoid multiplayer games for people really close.. I mean it should still be allowed but people should try and avoid it (unless they know well more than one other player in it). I mean you necesairly are biaised when you are about to lose, you will tend to make it easier for your familly/friend most of the time. Playing team games together or 1v1 ain t gonna hurt.

Are you joking? As long as there is no sign of teaming up (which there isn't) they should be able to play together as much as they want. There is no rule that says "thou shall not playeth one that you knoweth in real life"

In my game, one was in africa, with all his troops attacking me north and east. Meanwhile, he left 1 on Dakar, leaving africa undefended against the other one in sao paulo. 1 vs 1 and neither attacked the other. Now *that* is sus - stinks of SD.

I don't think people who know each other very well should be playing together. At the least, the other players can never be sure there's no collusion, and you certainly can't be sure that no indirect advantage is gained (e.g. by knowing when the turns of another player are likely in a freestyle 24hr game, or by getting a look at other sections of the map in a foggy game by seeing the screen of the other player).

It starts out innocuous, but can quickly become a total minefield. Much better that close friends/relatives don't play against each other - at least not in multiplayer games. Play 1v1 against each other sure, play as team-mates, sure but anything else is very uncomfortable IMO.

Thanks to all the investigators and fellow players who seem to know it is a Game and can see the evidence that there is no collusion.

To delahoc, in the instance you are referring. there never was 1v1 it was my 64 vs his 100+ after a turn in escalating btw, and he defeated me moved 54 into Sao Paulo, i was able to turn in right after that and return fire my 90+ against his 54. but you cant see that in fog. all your premise/assumption/ and deduction are and were totally wrong.
To the administrators, if the suggestion offered by one of the respondents : to change my name, can be arranged, I would gladly. However the 'curiousness' of our names would go away, but our familial bond would not and then the opponents wouldnt know it!! so is it better to have the apprehension or not? I cannot answer that.

to espana1155, it is a no spoil contest, you always have to guard your borders, which by the latest attack by you: I failed miserably. prior to that, while trying to work north, protect my eastern border (somewhat), and seem truce-like with pink --- until he attacked me profusely. I retaliated in kind and was back to attacking north and protecting east. but maybe not being a strategist, you wouldnt understand that.

To all, I retired from the USMC and my amazing son is in the Army. as he mentioned we see each other seldom and this is our recreation time. thanks to those again that saw fit to defend our games and fun, and shame on you folks that take this so seriously that a loss causes you to be so despicable.

Maybe I'm different but I'd rather win against the people I know than some random online people I don't know. If anything, I'm personally more aggressive against the players I do know in RL.

Omg, talk about an over-reaction.
a) I didn't report anyone for cheating. I pointed out that the names were similar, added that the play at that point seemed fair, and suggested such similar names probably needed looking into. I even acknowledged the possibility of a relationship. Read it - it's still up there.
b) i don't mind losing. Happens all the time. I take it gracefully when I lose in a fair fight.
c) then, as I pointed out above, we had the Dakar/Sao Paulo undeclared nonaggression. I know what I saw, and the log confirmed it.
d) I've also not called anyone names, nor ranted. You had that all to yourself.
