TRENCH WARFARE: Patience is a virtue [Winner: GreenBaize!]

A big congratulations to GreenBaize for winning the tournament!
Welcome to my first tournament.
we shall meet on the field of battle on World 2.1, with the following settings:

[spoiler=Format]players will be seeded using random.org in two divisions.
each division will play 5 games, send out at the same time.
points are awarded ONLY for eliminating someone. 1 point per elimination.
the 4 players in each division with the most points go on to the finals.
finals are again 5 games, points awarded by elimination.
Ties will be broken by Highest result in any of the games, then 2nd highest result, etc. (if player #1 and #2 have equal points, and player #1 ended his 5 games as 1st, 4th, 4th, 5th, 8th, and player 2 as 8th,8th,1st,2nd,7th, then highest result for both players is 1st, so we look at their 2nd highest result, which is 4th for #1, and 2nd for #2. player #2 moves on to the next round )
should there still be ties left(hard to imagine), a tiebreaker game will be played, 1v1 but otherwise the same settings.[/spoiler]

we will be playing an escalating game on a giant map, without board swipes due to Trench Warfare. these games will take a *long* time. going over 100 rounds will not be rare. this does not mean these games develop into building games, it's just that they develop very slowly.
