I are a utopianist

I HATE my country. I am so ASHAMED that my mother and father have held down steady employment in the private sector for as long as anyone can remember. And I KNOW that GUVMENT ITSELF is the only institution that should make decisions for the people. That is because all people can be broken up into groups. There is the favouritest groups that have all the moniez and they have to be stopped. Only the guvment can stop them from being so evil and hoarding moniez from the nice people who don't have anything. We can pit these two groups against each other so the nice people get the redistributionz and the bad people can't take a shite without being demonized.

I hate my country SO FUCKIN MUCH that I will act in the service of WHATEVER subversive agenda is presented to me by commentators on MSNBC, whether it's yelling about how the Americanos son racistas, VIVA LA RAZA!, or picketing the corporationists who want to rape the planet. Because even though words like 'fairness' and 'redistribution' are abstract nouns, I will lay down my life to either attack and defend (or defend and attack, i can't quite remember which) fairness and redistribution (and also possibly hotgaybumsex and racism and Islamaphobia, if I am asked) because I HATE MY COUNTRY.

I WILL DIE DEFENDING OR ATTACKING AN ABSTRACT CONCEPT OF ECONOMIC UTOPIA BECAUSE I'M TOO CHICKENSHIT TO MAKE SOMETHING OF MY LIFE AND WANT TO BE PROVIDED FOR. hOlY sHiTe, i'm creaming my pants again after listening to Obama. Will someone please post a picture of a group of oppressed union workers demanding bailout money that is hating Sarah Palin and the TEA party? PLEASE?

I agree that one good exaggeration deserves another but that isn't what liberals really believe in.

Neither was the guff i posted earlier really what most 'conservatives' believe, a point that was made (rather redundantly) afterwards in that thread. It's exaggeration for comic effect. But then that sort of frowning analysis kind of kills the mood.

What is the POINT of posting an exggeration of a view that you don't really disagree with?

Is this act kinda like jerking off? I honestly just don't get it.

You nailed it. Welcome to Bum... um, "Serious Interwebz Business"... where people come to convince each other that the other camp is full of idiots.

It's to label the other side that you disagree with the way you want and confirm that you're one of the good guys. Of course when someone mocks it with an exaggeration of their own then you back peddle and just say it was all in good fun.

This is really a little too balanced and on target for this forum.

We believe in fairness because some of the wealthy have earned their money off the backs of labor. If there were no laborers sweating and working hard for the management they could not have such a leisure lifestyle to begin with. In other words, they're making their wealth at the expense of those underneath them.

At a certain point we do believe that you've made enough money.

Who decides what is "enough money"?

Barrack wants everyone to think that you are uber-rich if you are a married couple (with children) who earn in excess of $250K/year.

Yes $250K is a lot... and to a couple with the same number of kids who earn $17K, or $45K, or even $80K... that number seems big.

Part of this is regional... if you live in Greater Boston and both husband and wife work $250K does not make one rich. You pay high taxes... you probably want to spend $10-$20K per year per child to send your kids to private school... if you both work there are non-deductible expenses associated with that (clothing, dry cleaning, cars, etc.)... you can contribute to 401K's but you are NOT ALLOWED to contribute to IRA's, so you have to save for retirement with the benefit of tax shelters available to people who earn less. I could go on and on.

The difference between a couple with 2 kids earning $80K and one earnign $250K.
-> One couple has 2 cars that are less than 5yrs old; the other has a couple older (but not old) cars in the driveway.
-> One lives in a nice downtown condo or in a 'burb with an acre of land; the other lives in a slightly less-nice condo or lives in a house with a 1/3rd acre.
-> One rents movies on occassion... the other buys DVD's and/or has HBO.
-> One eats Ribeye's on a regular basis... the other enjoys steak-tips as a treat.
-> etc. etc.

They both work 40+ hours a week... both pay bills... both wonder how they will send their kids to college. etc.etc.

another question...

What is a "rich" person supposed to do once they have made "enough money"?

I guess you would want that person to retire and spend their money. I would prefer the have incentive to keep innovating... keep employing people.

Let's take Mr. Bill Gates... what should he do? He does donate money (a lot)... and a good chunk of his time is dedicated to spending the money he has accumulated.

In your world he shouldn't be able to earn anymore... right? So then he has no incentive to work. Perhaps he should just close Microsoft?

The problem with your answer is the the originator of one of these posts has basically said he doesn't think conservatives believe what he is arguing against. That he has created a fictious opponent who hold unrealist views. So he's not exaggerating the view of someone he opposes... he's exaggerating the view of a fictious person that he does NOT even oppose.

That's the catch.

It's like Jerking Off, without the goal of actually cumming.

Dear fish,

It was a caricature. That's a big ol' word that means 'mocking by exaggeration'. Of course people don't actually think like that. Not even glenn beck. I posted originally to amuse myself. Bradleybadly's response was funnier. I haven't laughed at a post like that for a long time. So, kudos.

Jimboston: you are a bit like matt damon in good will hunting, except without the genius thing, or the hot girlfriend. You definitely prove something about conservatives; you ALL get confused easily and you think slavery is basically OK. Shame!

Dangerboy: please stop taking everything so seriously. This *makes sweeping arm gesture over CC.com* is here for our amusement. That's all it is. Now calm down, and write me a 500-word analysis of why curly hitting moe in the face with a plank of wood might be considered 'funny' by some pinko liberal bastards and not others.

OK.

1) You have no idea how much of a genius I may or may not be. The fact that you think you are witty does not preclude the possibility that I may (or may not) be intelligent. If you think you can make a determination of my IQ based soley on my posts in this forum you are just wrong.

2) I'm married... my wife is pretty hot. My girlfriend is even hotter.

3) Since I am more of a libertarian than a conservative I fail to see how I prove anything about cobservatives.

4) In all honesty... I can take you jokes and insults. That said... I don't see the humor in stating that either I or "all conservative" believe that slavery is "basically OK".
4a. - It's not funny.
4b. - It's an inference without basis.
4c. - Only an idiot trying to "win" some arguement or "points" takes a "debate" that far away from the original point. (Yes I get the idea exaggeration... but this is way past exaggeration as it's not even on the grid.)

So GFY.
