"They" are wrong. I missed that question on my last psyche final, which dropped my overall grade in the class from an A to a B, so it kinda stuck in my head. A "fetish" can only involve objects, not body parts. That would be a foot "fixation", and even that terminology is often misused.

Yes that is often how meanings are derived. EG Irregardless, chaise lounge, countless other words. Were language not constantly changing and evolving, then the dictionary would not come up with new versions each year. It will always be like that in America unless we take up the French custom of outlawing such practices. Through law, the French have strictly preserved the spellings, meanings and pronunciations of their words.
