The Falcons are off to a fast start with two touchdown drives of 60+ yards on their opening possessions and three pics of Case Keenum. Air Force 24-6 at the half, it's now a final 47-20.
Just a nickname I've been calling them for 4-5 years.
I give Air Force credit for that, they jumped on Houston right from the start and never let up. The Falcons have been consistent all year and their offense was extremely efficient with a rushing attack that set up the passing game and kept the Cougars off balance the entire game.
This was a good day for the service academies as Navy ran over Missouri
with 389 rushing yards and a totally dominating 41 minutes of clock. 35-13

What more do people want before they will admit that the Mountain West belongs at the table with the big boys? Seriously, this has happened for years now and no respect is given.

Agreed. 4-5 of our bowl teams were rated as underdogs. Wyoming won in 2x overtime with one of the most epic goal line stands ever, sending a huge statement, BYU just plain dominated in Vegas despite Wyoming style winds, Utah won by double digits in their 9th straight Bowl win, and AFA blasted Houston to smithereens. What is it going to take?

So far been a close one, nice job Sam.
Yeah I noticed that too.
Missionary & I are tied at 11-9.
My pick losses have been:
Fresno
SMU
Nevada
Ohio
A&M
Miami
Bowling Green
Houston
Stanford
All of which I stand behind besides the Fresno one, i switched it off Wyoming, second guessing myself.

I've been hinting at it and I can't remember if I've said it directly yet but the Mountain West conference is not only legitimate but they are better than some of the BCS conferences that are supposedly so tough.
In other news continuingly troubling signs for the Pac 10.

I agree they are legit, but not better. As good as? Yes... not better. TCU, Utah, BYU have been consistantly excellent in recent years, Air Force is consistantly good and Wyoming had a decent season and may be on the verge of catching up. The mainstays of the Mountain West Conference have had the respect of the college football world for ages and as their conference has toughened up seem more legitimate than ever. Figuring out how to schedule more games with some of the better schools in the BCS would be huge step too. Particularly if they manage to catch them on a good year.Utah was great last season and TCU is great this year.

The Colorado game, was a dissappointment, however we were still figuring out our starting line up. BYU has had our number for years, so if we score once next year, that will be an improvement. Air Force was a back and ofrth battle for the better part of the game (an entire half before AFA finally scored, kind of speaks volumes on it's own in some regards). We did have a lead over Utah for 3 quarters, until they they finally got ahead of us with a 4th straight FG. TCU just blew us out of the water, no questions about it (and they did not need an entire half to get rolling either).

The WAC used to be a good conference (Wyoming, CSU, Utah, and BYU were founders), but then it became a mega-conference in the late 90s, and thus the "gang of 5" split off, formed the MWC, and invited SDSU, UNLV, and UNM. TCU then came in to the MWC in 2005. Ever since, only BSU has been consistently good, with rumors of them eventually joining the MWC.
As you notice all my picks that were wrong came down to the very end with close scores. Hope you picked opposite of me for some more games, which I'm almost completely sure you picked Texas to beat Bama.
Interesting to see the other picks you have for today. I went against the grain and pinked Cincy when I first made my selections, I think it will be a tough game, and one where Florida will come out, But Im keeping it so I can root a lil harder for the Bearcats.
And of course I got Oregon in the earlier game. Cant see myself switching it to Ohio State despite all the bandwagon ESPN is trying to start for them. I think Pryor chokes on this big stage and the Ducks win by a descent amount.
And of course I picked Texas.. 31 - 17
I got some interesting facts to post about my Horns, Im waiting till it gets closer to the big day.

Just curious - how many of the MWC's players come from the states they're in? Or the outlying area? It seems like most of Boise State's players are Californian. Which isn't too different than, say, Oklahoma. But I hate Oklahoma.
Also, Auburn may have just officially eliminated me from my family bowl pick'em league (my cat seems primed to win, although my 2nd cousins fiancee is set for a charge) but that was an insane game. This has been a great bowl season, and the good games havn't even happened yet. Happy freaking new year.
Auburn 38 Northwestern 35Final/OT
Northwestern puts up 619 yards of offense and 35 first downs
Auburn puts up 425 yards and 18 first downs
The Wildcats miss a field goal to win in regulation, in OT the Tigers get a 21 yard field goal.
On 4th down at the Auburn 5 Northwestern goes for a trick play and is tackled at the two.
Game over... Auburn wins!
Gator Bowl: Florida State 33 West Virginia 21 Final
Bobby Bowden ends his Seminoles' coaching career with an upset of the Mountaineers
Capitol One Bowl: Penn State 19 LSU 17 Final
Nittany Lions' final drive of 65 yds in 12 plays in 5:57 and a game winning field goal
Rose Bowl: Ohio State 26 Oregon 17 Final
Big Ten Champs upset Pac 10 Champs
Sugar Bowl: Florida 51 Cincinnati 24 Final
The winningest group of seniors in SEC history notch one more in their final Gators' game.

BSU also seems to recruit fairly well from Texas. Anyways.
The MWC recruits from California, Texas, Colorado, Utah, other states, and even other countries (Wyoming is getting one of Canada's best RBs and may looking at a player from Germany (coincidentally, from a team from Munich called the Cowboys with very similar school colors)).
Woah Man! This is the best batch of New Years bowl games in a long time
or at least it was... up to the Sugar Bowl in The Big Easy. btw... the BCS Championship game features 2 QBs from Texas. January 2 Games:
International Bowl: South Florida (7-5) vs Northern Illinois (7-5)
PapaJohns.com Bowl: South Carolina (7-5) vs Connecticut (7-5)
Cotton Bowl: Oklahoma State (9-3) vs Mississippi (8-4)
Liberty Bowl: Arkansas (7-5) vs East Carolina (9-4)
Alamo Bowl: Michigan State (6-6) vs Texas Tech (8-4)

Honestly did not think the Sugar bowl would be that big of a blow out I mean wow. Also ddin't expect it to be quite asdirty as it was at times. I mean I'm used to seeing physical games in and oout of the SEC but this wasn't really physical so much as just so many dirty plays throughout.
also even though I don't like them, congratz to OSU for getting a little bit fo that BCS jinx off your shoulders.
LSU with the exception of a 5 minute span and a couple of good defensive stops played like crap the entire game (Even though there was a missed holding call on Penns one touchdown play that could have been the difference in the game) but at least they weren't as crappy as the referees for that game were...umm...it wasn't intentional grounding...no it was intentional grounding. Second down, No it's 3rd down...so now it's 4th down? No actually it's still 2nd down. Just the most blatant of several stupid and crappy calls by the refs. Long story short, Penn played like a top 12 team and LSU played like they weren't sure why they were even in the top 25.
