I'm blue (if I were green I would die)

But it is shiny, precioussss.... You wouldn't want to little golden rings surrounding those green dice to go away, would you? Twill big red eye is watching you, a few more comments like that and those dice will start been tipped against you.

I don't know, but the new dice have been against me for some reason, lost 2 games because of them. won 1, but still...

I mean....it's classic! It doesn't even resemble a map anymore; more like some chemistry formula!

Is it seriously going to stay like that or is it just temporary 'till something more suitable is made?

If it is temporary that is not so bad.... please talk to us and keep us better informed CC.

When it is a legal issue, they will have to be very careful about what they say publicly.

I doubt that they don't want to tell us. But I think that their lawyers will want to approve any public statements.

hah you may well be correct but if that is the case even those words would have been good.
we are media savvy and used to such mantra's. they can come and sit with us in allegiance, even if they can not furnish us with detail.

They are tired of someone else making money off of what is nearly identical to a game they won. They made a legal move. Lack a doesn't want to go to court. It doesn't matter weather or not they would win. The site must be made more different from risk so that wont happen.

Good to see you've finally caught up (at least part way) with the rest of us. :-)

Nevertheless, my point remains - there was nothing in the changes that were made that Hasbro can lay claim to. The only possible claim is in the gameplay - and that remains in all of the other maps as is.

As was discussed before, LACK DOES NOT WANT TO GO TO COURT, especially over such a petty issue that will still cost him a heck of a lot of money even if he does win. Better to change the site to their wishes rather than give them are better case to work with in case they were serious about copyright infringement.

While it may seem petty to him, there are plenty of people in this very large community that obviously don't like the changes. What made it worse was the admin's course of action: to leave a little puny message for us: "oh by the way, we changed the site up a bit. thanks!" and not to have consulted representatives of the community. That's like going to war with a country without asking for the UN's permission XD

But seriously, if we want to talk about money, then I agree, litigation would cost a ton, but I would argue that continuing on the current course will be more costly for Lack. Not only will he lose a LOT of premium members, he will lose players altogether who won't even play for free, he will lose the respect of a lot of people, but also the trust of many dedicated members who have devoted time and energy to CC. It's a question of which is worth more to him.

Hasbro is a big company with a team of lawyers who could sue the shit out of anyone who looks at the cross eyed if they felt like it. Right or wrong doesn't come into play when they could just drag it out in court until the other side yells uncle. You would be incredibly naive to think otherwise. Anyway, be thankful the CC guys didn't just say **** it and shut the whole damn site down.

This is obviously a trying time for the members of the site. To help I've compiled a glossary to ease the transition for everyone.

Risk--------------------------------------------------->CC
Standard Board-------------------------------------->Classic~
Middle Earth----------------------------------------->Centerscape
Dice (Die)-------------------------------------------->Intensity Cube(s)
Territory--------------------------------------------->Region
Continent-------------------------------------------->Zone
Cards------------------------------------------------->Spoils
Attack------------------------------------------------>Assault
Fortify------------------------------------------------>Reinforce
Cash Cards------------------------------------------->Realize Paper Gains
Team Game------------------------------------------>Match of Agreed Upon Partnerships
Set---------------------------------------------------->3 Units of Spoil That Are Either Similar or Dissimilar Enough to Merit a Bonus

I'm sure I've missed some stuff, but its a start.

I think that'd be too much work :? And they'd get a lot more chaotic riots than just this thread.

I am not worried about lack. Firstly, too many of you that are threatening to quit are way too addicted to go through with your threats. (you know it's true). Secondly, new members coming to the site won't mind the dice, since they did not see the originals.
They will also probably not care about that the middle earth map is gone either, since they will have never seen it.
They will also not mind that the feedback system is gone, since they never used it.
They will also not care that it says "reinforce" instead of "fortify" and that is says "no spoils" instead of "no cards" since they will have never gotten used the the original to begin with.

Lack will not suffer from this. Although, I would suggest he hold off from any more big changes for a month or two (other than the things already on the *to do* list) to let the people cool down from this crazy week here.

Without going through 60 pages, anyone know if this is a temporary solution- perhaps they are in the process of revamping the map ?

There have always been revamp issues/ talks... perhaps this will be a good change if the map gets redone anyhow.

There will be a revamp in the foundry "soon" for the two maps that have been changed. The current change was a quick-fix made to avoid legal issues ;)

It's kinda ironic that a big company like Hasbro with all their resources could not make a decent online Risk game.

As I thought, a blessing in disguise then. It needed a revamp anyhow and this will only quicken the process. For the love of Zeus, why all the commotion? Get a grip people !
