Stranger than the headbutt in South Africa...

The guy is playing on football's biggest stage in front of the World
and he fucking bites a player? It's not just unsportsmanlike, it's a
slap in the face to all footballers, disrespecting the sport, FIFA,
the World Cup, his team, country and everyone involved.

Void his pro contracts and dump his sorry ass.
Zidane's headbutt was in the 2006 final not in 2010, for the last game of his career. This guy is one of the best footballers of all times and he has won everything in clubs and with his national team.
Zidane is a real quiet and nice guy off the pitch; what he did there is so far off from the image he has. It was a huge shock in France. Not to mention that we probably lost the world cup because of that... 5 minutes before the penalty shootouts to determine the winner, the french players that were totally dominating the overtime completely lost their concentration.
Poor Trezeguet hit the bar and the ball bounced straight on the line on the 5th penalty... As cruel as it can get, worse way to lose a world cup.
I remember how we felt that the victory was escaping from our hands after zidane's headbutt.. This was too big to stay 100% concentrated.

If that's not a red card, what do you have to do to earn one? Bite someone?? He's extremely late.

Bollocks.

When he jumps up the defender is moving away from the ball, he didn't anticipate that he would stop and that's why his shin hits his head, it is nonetheless reckless behaviour but it isn't meditated which plays a part as well. He aims for the ball, the defender stops and he can't change direction midair. Comparing it with walking up to someone and bite him in the shoulder is ludicrous. A case can be made to give Ballotelli a red card but it's not a no brainer, the bite is always a red card, yet it was Italy who got the red card, not even for the challenge that could have been a red card, but for something that never was close to worthy of a red card. Italy should never have been given a red card and Uruguay none, and that was what happened. If the ref was competent he could've given one red card to both teams in these situations, but he could also have given Uruguay the only red card and still been competent, depending on how he views the Ballotelli hit. But in no situation is it valid to give Italy a red card and Uruguay none, not even mentioning that he awarded Italy a red card for the challenge that wasn't the one that could've been a red card, he gave it to them for something that never was a red card. Uruguay was helped ridicoulusly much by this incompetent referee.

balotelli is wayyyyy too agressive on this one; a red card wouldn't ve been unfair at all. a bit lower in the neck and the uruguayan could ve ended up paraplegic.

It's not that big of an impact, but the overly dramatic response to sell the foul is no surprise for a WC match.

Ah come on, receive a high kick like that in the back of your neck by balotelli s shin pads and tell me if you don t feel dizzy for 10 minutes..

Without doubt it's a dumb move, but it wasn't malicious
and could have been much worse is all I'm saying.
The red card & ejection was warranted.

Its an extremely dangerous play and I wouldn't have minded a red. If his knee hits squarely on the head that's a definite concussion.

You understand that if you like both, a draw qualifies them both right?

Iran has to win for them both not to qualify, and that's a huge uphill battle right now.

What i meant is that in case of a draw, they don t have to bother with the other game's result. Even if nigeria is qualified right now, scoring the draw would give them a piece of mind.

Anyway, nigeria will most likely play france, unless ecuador beats us by a landslide tonight to take the first place.

Messi was saving himself for the WC after all, Bosnia will be kicking themselves after those games. I didn't say anything in case they couldn't handle the heat but I was quietly expecting them to do well and score a few goals.

They should ve qualified, if it wasn t for that goal taken from dzeko.
I still think the winners of the most tragic elimination so far is ivory coast, second italy third bosnia.

Bosnia, then Ivory Coast and Italy third for me. Algeria will slot in there as well if they lose to Russia. If Ghana pip America they'll deserve it imo.

Ivory Coast had their chance and couldn't hold on to the ball... think the pen was a little soft but it probably was. Bosnia on the other and were robbed like you said by the offside goal.

It's all photoshopped, we swear!

In all honesty though, if your team was going to lose its best player, wouldn't you fight tooth and nail to keep them from getting suspended?

I don't think Argentina fought when Maradona was suspended in the middle of World Cup 1994! and ofc there's no comparison between Suarez and Maradona in terms of effect and importance on field!

It's not the first time this prick bites an opponent.. an action needs to be taken to force him to get some control.. being a very good player doesn't mean you are above law!

Once is bad, twice is absurd and this third time --on the global stage that is the World Cup-- should be beyond the limit of tolerance. He actually chased the Italian down to bite him, which is ridiculous conduct in the game. I won't lose any sleep if he never plays the game again and the sport doesn't need idiots like this representing them.

I am playing devil's advocate with that argument. Obviously Suarez should be (and certainly will be) punished, but I'm also trying to see things from the Uruguayan perspective. Which, in this case, is to go for the "it's photoshopped" line.

As far as getting someone like Suarez to control themselves, I'd say people like that are beyond self control, especially on the third offense.
