The problem is that I have the vectors in one program and the rasters in the other (because having all the effects together apparently takes up too much memory) -- Microsoft PhotoDraw and Jasc Paint Shop Pro 8. If I scale just the rasters, it looks blurry, so I have to move the vector objects a few at a time (so as to not overload the clipboard).
Conclusion: If I could afford better programs and machines, I'd be up to my second or third map by now.
Edit: Update: Small version done, but the computer I have it on is having problems connecting to anything, including USB drives. So, fix that first.
Incidentally, where relative to the XML coordinates are the numbers put? Center? Top left corner?
Edit: I've worked hard to put food on Draft 19:
Issues addressed:
- ) Some names changed
- ) Small version
Issues not addressed:
- ) Forgot to put crayons in small version
- ) XML coordinates
- ) Army grant minimum
- ) Any other brilliant ideas

Seriously, though, I'd say it's done. The cute message on the bottom left corner is a tad hard to read on the small version, but I don't think that's essential.

Right it's done already but please hurry up with the xml. No offence but it could be expected after 50 odd pages of mostly bickering about territory names

I think its a little confusing having a country and continent called Europe.

No, no more of that. The names are fixed and final.
Anyway, I'll get on with the XML as soon as someone answers this:

the coordinate is the center of the numbers for the first 2 digits. If there are more than 2 digits, the first two are centered around the pixel and the rest are off to the right.

I agree with Kaplowitz and WidowMakers about the territory name for Europe. You can't just say the names are fixed and final because you say so. There's a legitimate reason given to support the change, the least you could do is offer up a decent reason not to.

Some of us aren't fond of the map, but that has nothing to do with whether the map is Final Forged or not.

a good reason not to change them would be the poll results where people voted the names are good.
i think this map is almost ready (xml + finished small)

And thank you for that, WidowMakers. Without delay, Draft 19+XML:
And the file itself is at

To be fair the last 40 pages have been all about the naming of Europe... I think Europe should be Europe and we can be done with it.

Are you going to modify the basic army grants? With the Collections XML...
It would be easy?

That, I think, is the next big question, and to answer that I might playtest it both ways a few times -- I don't think I'd trust a poll here unless most people have tested it also.

OK XML
Here are some pictures of where the armies should be moved to.
I circled the numbers that I moved. It just centerers them up a little bit more.

I was gonna mention Conga being way too high... but WM has covered that.

The Doodle Earth Map has reached the
‘Final Forge’ Stage. I've revived this thread from the pits of the Foundry furnace and have examined the contents. Nearly every major concern has been addressed. If there are any other current concerns, please make your voice heard. There will be
two days for you to post any objections; if no one has posted any protest
after two days the map will be deemed finished with the 'Foundry Brand' of approval and will be submitted for live play. If after two days there is still discussion going on it may continue until said discussion has reached the conclusion that the map has reached its final and polished version.
Post questions and concerns if any.

The XML shouldn't have been that hard

Wow, well, I am excited, and flattered, and a little nervous. It feels good.
I added the crayons to the smaller version.
And, yes, the XML for this one was easy. The next one I'm planning to be quite bigger than 18 territories, however.
