Wish You Were Here is a shite album. DSOTM kicks its ass every single time. In fact Animals does too.

I'm pissed off with the canon proposed by a lot of the music press on the basis that all the good music was made years ago, nothing after 1990 can compare, and nobody will ever be as good as the beatles.
f*ck you rolling stone.

also is the whole tha carter like the new rick roll or something, where you persuade people to buy the album... and then laugh, because I'm really not getting it.

It's really not just music press. It's surprising how many of my peers prefer older music. It seems to be one of the "in" things at the moment.

I really don't like the Beatles. But I really don't like a lot of music from the mid-90s on with only a few exceptions (among Rock anyways).
More albums...
Poets and Pirates
Best of Guns and Roses
Mo Town
Beach Boys Greatest Hits
Queen's Number 1 Hits
Flick of the Switch
For Those About to Rock
High Voltage
Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap
KISS Alive 3
Best of the 50s
Monsters of Rock
Oh wait a sec...

You left off Beach Boys- Pet Sounds- worth listening to if you haven't heard. Not your boy band pop group album type sound - Brian Wilson truly shows his musical genious here.
I definately agree with :
Beatles- Sgt Pepper's
David Bowie - Ziggy
Beatles White Album
Beatles Revolver
Pink Floyd - Dark Side - Wall - Wish you were Here - Animals
Eagles Hotel California
I would add:
Barenaked Ladies - Gordon
Rush 2112
Rush A farewell To Kings
The Hollies Greatest Hits
Neil Young Harvest
CSNY's greatest hits
Im' sure I am forgetting something ...
I am only 32yrs old but damn - the music of the sixties and seventies was the best! the 80's and 90's sucked for the most part- or was that just the hairstyles and clothing?

Hey, Bryan Adams, BTO, Guess Who, Murray Mclaughlin (outstanding!), Tragically Hip, and Gordon Lightfoot all deserve a mention too.

If you are into the Who, you really should pick an album that was an expression of a particular time and was a complete, related piece of work. Pete Townsend would scoff at your ignorance.
Picking a compilation is fine for bands that you really aren't
that into, but if you pick a compilation for one of your favourite bands, I think it speaks volumes for your lack of understanding of what a real album can mean. Meaty was one of my first Who albums, but as I got into the band, I knew they were about a lot more that just catchy tunes. What's your second favourite Who album? Odds and Sods?

Listen to the album . Its one classic after another.
Tommy, on the other hand is balls.
I loved the Who in their Mod phase.
Once they rocked it up, and Pete lost the knack of pop craftsmanship, they wern't the same.

Boards of Canada - Music has the right to children

I know I am "into music" -and i really dont give a shit whether you believe that or not.

most stuff after the 90's isn't that good. And the Beatles aren't either. Anyway my list, where I don't list the alternative, and classic rock albums over and over again.

Semi-particular order

Master of Puppets - Metallica
Keeper of the 7 Keys - Helloween
Appetite For Destruction - Guns 'n' Roses
Rainbow Rising - Rainbow
...And Justice For All - Metallica
Cryptic Writings - Megadeth
Risk - Megadeth
Ride The Lightning - Metallica
Animals - Pink Floyd (Though Wall, Meddle, and DSOTM aren't far behind)
Speak English Or Die - S.O.D. (Pure genius)
Generation Swine - Motley Cure
Hip To the Javabean - Lemon Demon
Dinosuarchestra - Lemon Demon
Oddly some of these albums aren't played a ton by me. XD
