Makes me think of the rugby world cup final.

f*ck refs.

Well yeah, Samaras didn't help defending until they scored (though he's doing a lot offensively and needs support) and Ninis has taken a large dump on the field as well, and thankfully hes off for Salpi. But now our chances have been artificially cut by this referee at a time where the momentum was slowly going our way.

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH SALPI SALPI SALPI SALPI AHHHHHHHHHHHHH YESSSSSSSSSSSSS

if the referee knows what he's doing he'll send off 2 more greeks and maybe award a penalty kick for poland.
it looks like he knew the outcome of the game before it even started.

I've had the game on mute while I've have been working, and I think every time I looked up to watch some action I saw a ref pulling out a card. ha.

true. a lot of interesting things happening. unfortunately not a great football show. neither team played good football.

also the 1-1 result doesn't help either team. they both needed a win in this match to hope for a qualification.

I don't necessarily think so, especially if Russia wins their game. This is definitely the hardest group to predict. Other than Russia finishing getting out of the group somehow, the individual games are impossible to guess. The other 3 teams are practically of equal quality.

Santos made some brilliant changes in response to the first half.

As long as Greece end up playing Germany then I don't care who wins.

I haven't followed international play since the CONCACAF gold cup, so I have no idea how good some of the teams are.

wow an american supporting france for the eurocup, that's unexpected!
i think the best we can do is semi finalists, meeting italy in quarter finals then losing vs germany or netherlands in semis.

I have a admiration for French culture. If there was an international game between the US and France, I wouldn't know who to root for.

I enjoy all the non-European support for this tournament a lot. For instance, I wouldn't be that enthusiastic for the Superbowl, but perhaps I should start looking into that stuff.

The Poland-Greece game was weird. Poland played good in the first half and Greece lost a player. 1-0
Greece played good in the second half and Poland lost their keeper. 1-1
Yet, the new keeper of Poland holds a penalty kick. That was an awesome moment, sorry Greece-fans. You can't imagine how Tyton must've felt on that particular moment.

i see russia and czech republic finishing 1st and second. greece and poland are of similar value and their only hope would have been a win in this match, then hopefully a draw vs czech republic, finish the group with 4 points tied for 2nd place with czech republic but with a better goal difference.

obviously anything can happen. even seeing greece and poland both qualify. but what i wrote above is the most likely scenario in my own opinion.

PS: the hardest to predict will be denmark portugal germany holland. that's the nightmare group of every bookie.

I don't watch much soccer/football, but I usually gravitate toward any sporting tournament that seems to have a high level of play, since it can be fun to watch and pick sides for which to root. I am not much of a hockey fan either, but I usually watch a large portion of the Stanley Cup since almost any tournament aspect just adds fun to my viewing. Same goes for some other sports outside of the usual big American ones.

I don't see Czech Republic getting more than 4 pts in this group, especially after this first half. Any one of Greece, Poland and the Czechs could come 2nd.

the russians played absolutely beautiful. if they keep this up the group will be theirs with 3 clear victories.
on the other hand czech republic despite losing so badly still seemed like they played better than greece or poland. it will be interesting to see what happens in the battle for 2nd place. as i said before the goal difference will probably be crucial and the greeks might have an advantage here because in the last game they'll an already qualified russian team that will most likely field many reserves.
