Yeah, I can't make sense of the aging process and eventual death of our biological beings. We are constantly replacing cells, it should cause us to constantly improve them instead of degradation.
I guess that is why some keep looking for ways to change it.

Yeah, whenever the religious nuts start to talk about "Intelligent Design" my jaw just drops. If a committee of imbeciles got drunk for a week and then were handed an assignment to design the ideal form of life, they couldn't possibly do worse than the chaotic bag of inefficiency that is our body. Everything in the body is about as fucked up as it can be, starting from the fact that the system only manages to use about 5% of the fuel it takes in and ending with the fact that the whole thing degenerates and falls apart even if you take perfect care of it. Life really is evidence for a total lack of intelligent design.

Yeah the best evidence for evolution is that many things are not good at what they do, having adapted from an earlier "design".

While i agree with the spirit of the post (for instance, poor design of recurrent laryngeal nerve, various failings of former quadropeds becoming bipeds, etc), cellular efficiency is remarkably efficient. Much more so than any engine or other machine we build and design.

Take your serious political discussion that so far hasn't delved into barbarism, back up DDS's anus where he likes it.

Timing never was my strong suit. Regardless, sorry to hear about your mother Jonesy, but it's good that you managed to be there in time.
How has everyone been?

Also I'm going to be more active again. If anyone wants to take points off me/lose points with me, let me know.

Nice to hear from you sam.
Not playing many games lately - too much travelling. Between now and Christmas I'll be: Moving house to another part of Cali, going back to the UK for Mum's funeral, off to Corsica for a vacation, back to UK to stay with Dad for a few weeks (this has hit him hard, they were married for 69 years!), back to Cali, then to visit the curlette at Colorado Uni, then to Ghana where I join Mrs thecurl (who's on a contract there) for a month. Then back to Cali for Xmas. Somewhere in there I'd like to visit NJ to see the curlson and his daughter, though I don't know if that'll be possible.
That all assumes of course that nobody else snufs it in the meanwhile.
Oops I just realized that the new plan means I won't be in the UK for mother-in-law's 90th birthday.

ANd since you've not been around, quick summary of recent jonesey highlights: The short movie "As Seen on TV" won all sorts of awards (see avatar), and my first novel ("The Dragon's Run" is now available as hard copy or as kindle from Amazon and other places ("Gareth John Jones" is the author). I have a one-year old grandaughter, and (as you'll see above) moved from NJ to Cali. No more snow.

Sam! Good to hear you'll be back. Me, I've had crap luck with my ankle. 3 surgeries in about 2 1/2 years, with the last one ending up having to get a new ligament in it.
How've you been?

I think CSU wants to ship Bobo back to Georgia, Quirk. They didn't do so well yesterday.
In other news, my Wyoming Cowboys are looking a LOT better than last year.

You really have been busy Jonesy! Good to hear that things are going so well for you. Hopefully your father can soldier through this, I cannot begin to imagine what it's like to lose someone you were together with for roughly 70 years (a lifetime for most). Also, I've been to Corsica and Sardinia, and they are two of the most beautiful places I've been to. You'll love it there.
Muy, what happened to your ankle? I feel like I knew this but time has clearly got the better of me!
As for me, I graduated from university in Birmingham exactly a year ago today, and began a job shortly after where I edit photos, videos, and audio recordings. We mainly deal with events (weddings, funerals, corporate events) and whatnot, but I also edited something for Cliff Richard the other week (don't worry, it's not evidence). It's fun but I'm thinking after Christmas of taking a sideways step into PR. Won't be much of a pay increase but it's more in line with my interests I guess.
Other than that, my non-work life is much the same. Had a major break up, followed by one or two small ones, before getting back together with the first girl. Currently going strong

. My mother got divorced for the second time in Spring, this one it was just a slow dissolution, which is far better than her previous husband who was a terrible man. She finally started moving on this month, she even went on a date. Just glad to see her happy again.

Bad joints and bad luck don't mix well. And being stuck in a cast for nearly 2 months straight ain't fun.
Glad that your mother is doing well!

Well goddamn, target finally learned how to spell.
Good to see you again man.
I've been alright I suppose, although my grandfather just passed tonight. Lung cancer. I have mixed feelings about it honestly. He is my grandfather and I love him, but he also walked out on my grandmother and basically abandoned her to be with another girl. He never really was around all that much, though he'd occasionally stop by to see us. I suppose I don't hold anything against him.
Still sucks though.

Well that too bad it always tough when some one you knows dies whether you knew them well or not. It always seems to bring up emotions you never really thought about. My thoughts are with you.
Oh I did not really learn how to spell. (they where just easy words)
