Humans do not control the earth. Calamity is inevitable; shed your fear and don't let others use fear to control you.

I think Mets' point was to poke fun at your message, "don't let others use fear to control you," because that's what you're doing in your larger post.

It is alarming. The books are cooked. The language is justified. Not like saying the end of the world is coming, like what it's being compared to, but rather to the point as it was ripped from another thread, the point was the future generation will have less and less a say/no say at all, concerning Democracy which that thread was about and that comment was in context. Yes, when taken out of context, Mets comment was funny, but really you can't take a position on one topic and juxtapose that as somehow related in a different and completely unrelated topic, hence the cheap shot.
On paper, the alarm bells have been ringing concerning our fiscal situation for about 10 years now. Our real interest rate is almost negative, the FED is doing things it promised it would never do, we've had our credit rating downgraded, spending continues to rise, and we have to borrow just to make the interest payments on the debt. It would be hypocrisy if the comments were on the same topic, and maybe only a little bit if the different issues were substantially related.

The future generations have no say on the climate and environment they are being given. We are pumping all the carbon dioxide we want into it, damning them with higher temperatures and sea levels, and they will look back on us with disgust if we do not act to mollify those effects.

but mankind's impact is not the only thing in the world that affects the climate, not even the main thing; and humans do not control the climate. You speak as if we can control the environment, which is what makes the equivalence even more false. A volcano can erupt at any moment, wiping out all the gains you could ever dream of, and humans don't make volcanoes erupt either. There are far too many other factors for you to even begin to lay the blame on human beings.

No. This is about whether we agree with the other person's prediction for the future, not whether we believe in intergenerational justice. If Phatscotty was right about what we're doing to our descendants, then I would be alarmed as he is. Since there is far from universal accord on economists on this issue, I don't really know how to feel. On the other hand, there is basically universal consensus from climate scientists on climate change.

You're a scientist, if I remember correctly. Does it bother you that other scientists basically have a consensus on the issue?

You are the one that is full of shit. You're really gonna sit there and say our fiscal situation is nothing to be alarmed about? and take the side that global warming is? We all know you don't believe that...so, here you are....
See the hypocrisy? See how ya are? How about you mind your own business unless you are actually going to engage in the conversation instead of hit n running away after your unclever insults. If you want to stand up like a man and address the challenges, or if you just wanna quit before you dig yourself too deep, or if you just want to keep prancing around taking the side of global warming over our fiscal situation, either way, you are in check.

Haha, so that's your response to someone who points out your hypocrisy and then another rubs the same point in your face?

I pointed out there was no hypocrisy on my end, and how it was on yours. You have yet to respond and you refuse to address the issue, so really it's more like "I'm Bigballinstalin, f*ck you!"
I guess you are choosing to dig yourself deeper...
How about this: You could try opining on why I was wrong to think our fiscal situation demands immediate action, or, you would try showing why our fiscal situation is no big deal. You said I was being alarmist, I'm asking you why you think our fiscal situation is not alarming. You could even pick out a sentence from my original post, and cherry pick which one would make your statement accurate...that is, which sentence of mine was trying to use fear to control people? Which people was I trying to scare? Am I wrong that we are in debt, or about the size of it? Or, you could keep dodging while accusing me of dodging, which would make you and even bigger hypocrite. Again, you are in check.

Just quote me where I say, "our fiscal situation is nothing to be alarmed about." The problem is... you can't. Why? Because you're making up shit to avoid the main point: you are a hypocrite.
And, your latest post is another example of a classic Phatscotty dodge. Just keep ignoring the valid points against you by throwing up a smokescreen. This time you're trying to drag me into a debate about fiscal policy, which is besides the point because the point is that you're a hypocrite.
