I think Mets' point was to poke fun at your message, "don't let others use fear to control you," because that's what you're doing in your larger post.Phatscotty wrote:OH PSH SHYA RIGHT LMAO nice cheap shot! yeah....the inevitability of the next ice age is TOTALLY comparable to taking and spending money that isn't yours.BigBallinStalin wrote:Ha! How fickle
The manner in which you expressed your alleged facts was not objective (and boring), rather it was alarmist, thus inciting fear.Phatscotty wrote:I was using truth.

It is alarming. The books are cooked. The language is justified. Not like saying the end of the world is coming, like what it's being compared to, but rather to the point as it was ripped from another thread, the point was the future generation will have less and less a say/no say at all, concerning Democracy which that thread was about and that comment was in context. Yes, when taken out of context, Mets comment was funny, but really you can't take a position on one topic and juxtapose that as somehow related in a different and completely unrelated topic, hence the cheap shot.BigBallinStalin wrote:The manner in which you expressed your alleged facts was not objective (and boring), rather it was alarmist, thus inciting fear.Phatscotty wrote:I was using truth.

On paper, the alarm bells have been ringing concerning our fiscal situation for about 10 years now. Our real interest rate is almost negative, the FED is doing things it promised it would never do, we've had our credit rating downgraded, spending continues to rise, and we have to borrow just to make the interest payments on the debt. It would be hypocrisy if the comments were on the same topic, and maybe only a little bit if the different issues were substantially related.
The future generations have no say on the climate and environment they are being given. We are pumping all the carbon dioxide we want into it, damning them with higher temperatures and sea levels, and they will look back on us with disgust if we do not act to mollify those effects.Phatscotty wrote:It is alarming. but mankind's impact is not the only thing in the world that affects the climate, not even the main thing; and humans do not control the climate. You speak as if we can control the environment, which is what makes the equivalence even more false. A volcano can erupt at any moment, wiping out all the gains you could ever dream of, and humans don't make volcanoes erupt either. There are far too many other factors for you to even begin to lay the blame on human beings.Metsfanmax wrote:The future generations have no say on the climate and environment they are being given. No. This is about whether we agree with the other person's prediction for the future, not whether we believe in intergenerational justice. If Phatscotty was right about what we're doing to our descendants, then I would be alarmed as he is. Since there is far from universal accord on economists on this issue, I don't really know how to feel. On the other hand, there is basically universal consensus from climate scientists on climate change.hotfire wrote:it appears that for both parties, inter-generational justice is not absolute but is only relevant if it aligns with ur political views
You're a scientist, if I remember correctly. Does it bother you that other scientists basically have a consensus on the issue?Night Strike wrote:I guess it's easy to blame humans with 95% certainty when data from the last 15 years is ignored and 114 out of 117 catastrophic predictions have not actually happened. You are the one that is full of shit. You're really gonna sit there and say our fiscal situation is nothing to be alarmed about? and take the side that global warming is? We all know you don't believe that...so, here you are....BigBallinStalin wrote:The manner in which you expressed your alleged facts was not objective (and boring), rather it was alarmist, thus inciting fear.Phatscotty wrote:I was using truth.
