Historically they didnot attempt to hit flak batteries.

It_oddball...thanks for your post... and the concern showed.
After the experiences and feedback from Battle of Australia, i would very much hesitate to add neutrals to this map, unless there was a huge outcry for it.

The aircraft bonuses are up for grabs though, and they will be reviewed after a few first pages.

Congratulations CairnsWK,

The map looks great! I've been busy with other things, but you guys are putting out some fantastic maps. Of course I agree with the calls for some method of beta testing. That's how s/w gets developed, someone has to test it before release. I said it last time and it bears repeating - the process is broken.

That said, I'll also point out that while I've been too busy to play much CC lately, the only maps I have been playing are new releases and DiM's Age of Merchants (more congrats to DiM!), so I'm sure this little rough patch will soon be behind us.

I've just started a game and I have a question. The bonus for the AA's, are they supposed to be deployable anywhere? I know the same question was asked here: http://www.conquerclub.com/forum/viewto ... 218#686218 - but your response included updated HTML but not really an answer. I thought the bonus was supposed to go directly on the AA, and that's also how I interpret the text in the legend, but in my game I see this:
2007-09-13 11:12:16 - gohangyourselves receives 1 armies for holding FIS AA
2007-09-13 11:12:16 - gohangyourselves receives 4 armies for 12 territories
2007-09-13 11:13:28 - gohangyourselves deployed 5 armies on K1
so it looks like the AA bonus is currently deployable anywhere.

And if you guys set up a beta-test group, I'll make time to be there.

Just started game # 871315 the partial aircraft bonuses are not working. Looks like this problem has been reported already, but just to pass it along.

I think there is a problem with the Bonuses for your Pearl Harbor Map. The +3 for any 2 aircraft and +4 for any four doesn't seam to be working. both me and my opponent have been eligible for the past few turns and neighter have received the bonuses!

No bonus for aircraft for me either. I sunk my armies into getting some through Oil AA and the aircraft I defeated turned neutral. I shot it again thinking I was gonna take it over but nothing again. Not sure if thats suppose to happen but it was a waste for me to find that out.

Actually, it seems as though the airplane bonuses are occurring when you have the group, so there is probably a "not" in the wrong place somewhere.

the airplane bonus is very faulty, the other person in Game 863547
has all of the planes, angets the bonus for that + the bonus for holding 4 + the bonus for holding 3.

I found the problem! The closing </components> tag should appear immediately after the last component, before the <required></required> and <overrules></overrules> tags.

I know there are demands for map playtesting, but I don't want to have games in the live database for non-existant maps and I don't want to let everyone into the test site or manage test privileges.

I think the solution is a better mapmker XML checker tool. Using code that yeti_c has provided me I can improve the checker so that it would have caught all the bugs in the latest batch of new maps. This will be a priority for next week.

Since it was that simple why didn't you go into the xml and change it yourself seeing as how your the "Webmaster"!!

Well, these partial bonusses were a new XML feature, so not everybody understood exactly what was wrong. It works now I see.

I did change it myself. I just forgot to mentioned that part :)

Also, I take back my comment about an improved checker catching all the mitakes. It won't catch something like an incorrect bonus amount or a missing 2-way border. But it can catch many of the mistakes that happen.

I fixed another mistake: <overrules> should be <overrides>.

This is my fault, because I had it wrong in the XML Tutorial (which is now corrected).

Pearl Harbor almost fixed.

Vals and Zeroes now work. Kates not applying bonus for 2 or 4 planes

bonus aircraft is Stil NOT correct game 865081

hey aircraft bonus isnt correct: yellow has 5 of 6 kates and gets bonus for holding 2 AND 4 aircraft = 4+3. That is more then when you have all because then you get a bonus of 6. I dont think that this is meant with bonus rules

Im playing a game of this at the moment. The map is awesome well done cairns. I have one query though it seems strange to me that the aa batteries dont attack planes, was this looked at as a possibility. In reality they obviously would attack planes, i know they have a bonus but IMHO you should be able to shoot at planes if you have an AA battery.

They are supposed to but either we didn't put the bombardment code in right or the bombardment code isn't working at all. I have no idea which it is.

glad to hear it coleman, i still think the map is class but this would hugely enhance its closeness to reality. Are ye still planning on doing this or has it been scrapped because of this programming issue ?

rebelman... all the code should be working now...it is in the game i am in with lackattack...no preferential treatment there of course. 8)
