You really think the size of the maps is going to make a difference? Maybe you just need glasses?

Get a 2024 HD feel - this format is 2007 style. 2007 vs 2024 is getting close to 20 years. On internet 20 years is pre historic. What youngster is gonna try this? So you dont get anybody under 30 in here. With billions of people out there and we are like 3500?

In 2007 the first 1 TB hard disk drive (HDD) on PC was announced next to the iPhone 1.

The maximum map size is still the same like in 2006:

Large Version: width up to 840 px , height up to 800 px
Small Version: width up to 630 px, height up to 600 px

Added to the spectacular total we also failed once again to reach 1,000 on the running scoreboard...this is now the norm rather than the exception,so much so I don't think I'll even bother checking next month....althoughhhhhhh winter is on it's way (Northern hemisphere),so maybe a brief boost in numbers.

The site's spent too much time catering to the clan nerds, at the expense of a game that's easy for anyone to pick up.

If I click on 'Join a Game' then right now I see 45 games with open slots. 5 are on the classic Risk map, 10 are on different maps that have regular gameplay, the other 30 are on 'special gameplay' maps like Draknor, Napoleonic Europe etc. And it gets worse the more pages you scroll.

Even if it was a case of CC regularly auto-generating some empty games on Classic, with normal gameplay mechanics (i.e. no zombie spoils, polymorphic etc.), that would help noobs looking to pick up their first game or two to find and join a game they can actually comprehend without spending 1-2 hours studying the map.

Can't argue with any of that....of course they will argue that they are their bread and butter but soon they will not be able to afford to buy butter to spread on it ... just some horrible supermarket own brand margarine.

I completly disagree the greates appeal of CC imo is the wide variety of maps. It's probably what got me hooked to this site. There are other sites with better graphics but its just the classic map or afew more. I would get bored to play the same kind of map all the time.

I agree. The Foundry should just crank out more maps with a variety of fun, graphics, gimmicks, backstories, and other curiosities on them. Of course, do some gameplay checking, but don't get bogged down in that. Afterall, there are a lot of fully-approved 'alpha' maps that are still very unbalanced and drop-dependent (Western Front, hello), ...but still kinda fun to play, if that caveat is accepted.
My understanding is that 2024 was the best year in many years for new maps because two new ones arrived. So yeah, speed it up.

In total there are 323 users online :: 255 registered and 68 hidden (based on users active over the past 15 minutes)

Rival risk type sites would kill to get numbers like this.. CC might have dropped in number of active players, but still has a really strong core

maybe the 3400's is the stable mark where leaving members = new members??

How many of those are paid? Even if it's 100%, that means this site is only generating $87K per year. Hard to grow it with that.

In the past I’ve seen estimates of 25-40%, I’ve always used 33% as I assume some premiums are given away etc

To put this all into perspective, the other online gaming site I use to play other games (BGA) has a thread where someone is complaining about there not being enough users. They have 15K, and 10K+ actively playing games at the moment.
