anyway, nice try. I don't see why BPB would put its headquarters in a treehouse, but whatever. I'm not part of that group.

EDIT: you should have used the second result on google. It looks like it would make a better BPB headquarters.

For starters, who the hell doesn't want their HQ in a freaking treehouse?! Tree houses are and have always been undeniably rad.

Secondly, I agree that this was not Vace's finest effort but I'm struggling to think of any of the contestants who've been 100% on-point throughout. Yours that preceded this one was stunning, btw.

How did you do the trees? They're absolutely smashing.

since the "psd" wca uploaded is actually a non layered png i'm gonna speculate and say he made them like this:

1. tree brushes overlayed with a gradient then adding small sparks with a small fuzzy brush
2. tree renders clipmasked (or overlayed with a gradient)

Do you guys want the layered file? The trees are still flattened in that one, though.

For the trees, i did it with a tree brush. Would have liked to make my tree in 3D instead of use a brush, but I didn't have much time.
The trees were actually set like this in the layers before I flattened them:

Layer set to color (lots of colors)
Copy of All layers, flattened, blurred (colored)
Copy of sparkles w/small blur (grey)
Small sparkles (small soft brush) (grey)
Big sparkles (soft brush) (grey)
Tree brush at bottom (grey)

I'm gonna draw up a quick tutorial for making the trees. Since it'd be easier to explain that way.

color dodge is your best friend for nice colors and sparks (as long as its not on a black BG)

Ok, I'm somewhat embarrassed to admit this but... I can't figure out how to access the brushset when I'm in Photoshop.

I downloaded the brushset and stuck the file brodi_01.abr in the Photoshop Brushes folder (which was in Presets inside the Main Photoshop folder). Should I have put it somewhere else, or am I just not looking in the right place in the interface?

I was gone all weekend and the few days before that I was busy so I had not checked in this thread... I just went and looked at any pics I had missed. Very impressive. I love the creativity everyone is showing off.

You put it in the right folder, don't worry.

Depending on which photoshop you have, the way to use them will be very slightly different.

Try that tutorial.
If your version of photoshop doesn't give you a brushes window, just click the brush dropdown thing that shows all of them. somewhere on the right there will be a very small arrow. click it, then go down to where it says "load brushes". then just find where you saved the brushes, and load the brushes you want.

Its written for Photoshop, but you could probably adjust it and do something similar in other graphics programs.

I didn't get the other tut, but I followed your directions exactly and now I have the brushes.

And love your tut on the trees! It's absolutely perfect! Easy to understand with no extraneous, confusing verbiage. Spot on!
