on the desert one its kinda hard to read the letters, and the forest is better for reading it right now, but the desert one is definately better for this map. great job! glad ur back to mapmaking!

and yes i think a palm tree would be good. how about this one?

I figured out the palm tree problem. I'm gonna make a few in Bryce (its a 3d program) and just bring them into photoshop. It'll be easy.

In case you haven't noticed, the graphics on my current sig suck (at least they do in my opinion. they are from a very early stage in creation of the map).
And those new banners are almost the right size to make into a signature. Just a bit of resizing and adding a few extra effects and I could have a new sig.

So yes, "nice sigs" was an idea and yes it was a good one.

so have you done any progress on the actual map, or are you just doing the legend first. of course there's not really much more to do on the map (at least not in my opinion... ) but I was just wondering. and i shall say it again, DESERT LEGEND.

I got a bit of progress done on the actual map, but nothing major right now. I'm getting the key done first.

Heres the next version of the key background, with palm trees!

I did:
added palm trees
added some more shadows
changed the color of the sand a bit
changed the color of some of the text

For some reason the text is kinda blurry in this pic. Just try to ignore the blurryness and focus on the image.

Great it really gives a sense that you will be making a journey into the harsh desert should look great on the map

Very nice map. I would suggest somewhere between 15-40 neutral armies in every Grand Oasis territory.

Can you explain why the number would have to be that big?
I'm not convinced...

if it was 40 neutrals there would be a total of 120 neutrals there, and thats more than AoR magic, with a lot less bonuses than it... if its 15, its still 45 total, and i think thats too high considering the bonuses that this game holds. the 24 (i think, with 8 on each?) that we have now is fine. i kinda liked the 10 there was before, but it should definately not be 15-40. whats the current neutral count again climbing?

EDIT:ok i see the poll and its 9+ so i guess its gonna be 10? what would it be if that option wins?

Not sure, cause 6 is pulling a lot of votes also. and 9+ is everything above it, so that could be 9 or it could be 99.
I'll probably get a second poll in a few days that narrows down the choices a bit.

But yea as rocky said 6 or 10 it should be. Although if its 10, then people will be discouraged of going for it. If its 6, they have a higher chance of going for it. And if its 1, then it will be a slaughterfest to get to the oasis first

I'm a big fan of 9 on grand oasis, 27 will be large enough to stave off any too easy wins at least for a few rounds, and by then it'll be a good fight

Okay, sry for the unreasonable post I made previously. I think this would be a very interesting map because it's only one I've seen so far that has no continents or additional territory bonuses, but has auto-deploy. It's kinda like somewhere between Circus Maximus (although I've never played on it before) and the other maps.
