Alright, I'm convinced. BANE! The anti-Batman! (Actually, they should do Bane last.)

Seriously, though, I'd think the Ventriloquist would be perfect for the kind of film these movies have been. Dark, twisted, and just plain messed up... but with a redemptive element that Joker and Two-Face lacked, so they don't wind up making Dark Knight again. That would be my choice here. The other one that might be interesting as a setup for future movies would be Man-Bat.

I was thinking Scarecrow might come back, but it's a movie too early... he needs a bit of time to simmer and build his understanding of fear to where he doesn't need his serum. Harley Quinn's the same deal... needs some more time after the last movie to be inspired by the Joker or something.

I heard somewhere that Scarecrow appeared in the Dark Knight and that it took Batman 1 minute to deal with him. Could someone tell me which guy this scarecrow guy was and when he appeared in the film?

There was a drug deal early on, and the Scarecrow was meeting with some of his customers. It was originally broken up by a group of fake Batmans, but the real one showed up half way through the fight.

And Scarecrow was played by Cillian Murphy again, who was reprising his role from Batman Begins. In fact, Murphy was on the short list to play Batman in the new adaptation, and Christopher Nolan was so impressed with his reading, he asked Murphy if he'd be willing to play Scarecrow, offering him the role based purely on his reading for Batman.

You might recognize Murphy from 28 Days Later (a Danny Boyle joint, and damn good) or from Red Eye (an otherwise forgettable film with an impressive performance by Murphy).

Yes, from whump's question it sounds as if he hasn't actually seen the first one, something paramount to a crime considering that I thought it was one of the better super hero movies I'd seen before Dark Knight kicked it into full gear and soared into the heavens. But yeah, assuming that I would like to clarify my previous statement by saying that he had a sack with two holes in it over his head.

I really think that this next movie will do a good job at turning The Riddler into a new, more interesting version of the original that is fairly independent from The Joker. After all they did a great job with Scarecrow.

It's still amazes me, it's like making a good Spiderman movie featuring the Vulture.

That's it! That's it! I know the perfect Bat-villain for the next movie - Bat-Mite.

I think he'd fit in perfectly with the nasty, gritty, almost-realistic world they're building in these movies.

Bat-mite is from the same dimension as Mr Myxyzptlk, and hero-worships Batman. Sort of a retarded stalker with infinite powers.

Putting him in would be even more of a troll than just looping rickroll for 2 hours. I support it entirely.

I saw Batman Begins, it was just such a boring movie I must have slept through the 50 minutes that the Scarecrow was in.

I would say that out of the likely ones to be shown. I would least like to see the Penguin. I've never liked that demented bird.

You didn't see that really gay one with Val Kilmer I think? It was... maybe Riddler + Mr. Freeze. They completely sucked. The only thing good about that movie were the Burger King collector glasses they made for it.

The double villan formula is really way harder to pull off than the single villian unless the movie is seriously just and eye-popping special effects flick with one fight after another ... which in the case of a sacred icon like Batman, would just cost WAY too much to make... The only reason two villians worked nicely in Batman 2 was that the motives both Catwoman/Selina and Penguin/Cobblepot were clouded with moral ambiguities for much of the movie, while the real "bad guy" was a non-franchise "business type".

Maybe a movie with just the Riddler could be done propperly, but you'd have to really give him a lot of backstory. I think George Clooney should be cast as Riddler. He could bring the gravity to the role that could protray the Riddler as someone like John Nash who is into solving riddles and cryptography, and is a serious genious, but goes off the deep end with conspiratorial theories and stuff, and all the crimes and terrorism he commits he thinks is "for the good" so he leaves the riddles not to be a smart ass in green pagamas with freakin' questionmarks all over them, but because he has to make contact with people to join him, but he can't do it in the open because "they are listening".

Good or what?

Except that Batman needs a new love interest... Which will be Talia Al Ghul.

Not bad but it would be a challenge to pull off. You would lose people unless you somehow linked the backstories of both Talia and my version of the Riddler... it could be done by maybe saying that the "Nash" Riddler used to work for Raj Al Ghul in one of his cover organization cracking secrets until he uncovered the true nature of what the orgnaization was doing, which led to a major nervous breakdown causing him to do something really psychotic, and ... however, prior to that time, he was enraptured by the lovely daughter of the boss, Talia, and they had a great romance, etc. and now he is stalking her, while she is playing a game of cat and mouse with Batman, love triangle ensues... oooh ooooh that's perfect, a George Clooney, Christian Bale, and Halle Berry as Talia (I mean, she was Catwoman! She has to get into the franchice properly, just like Clooney was Batman in the gay suite!)
