Everything you saw of Steve, Bogus was probably watchin him wrestle crocs on t.v...but trust me we saw alot of him here in Oz and many an in-depth interview or articles on what he has done for conservation or the environment.
Every cent he earned he invested into buying native bushland in Australia and also all over the world(including the U.S.A.) mainly for habitat protection. He has created numerous wildlife hospitals and contributed thousands of dollars to a vast array of enviromental causes.
Look mate...he is not Mother Teresa or the saviour of mankind but he did his bit for what he believed in. Sure he played it up for the cameras but his purpose was to educate and create a sense of awe and wonderment for the planet around us.
Suggesting wife beating/rapist is brazenly inflammatory and disrespectful and five minutes of research would have told you otherwise.
He was a better man than you or I.

Apparantly the reason he died is because he pulled the stingray barb out - which has lots of counter barbs going the opposite way. If he knew what he was doing he'd still be alive. I thought he was ok, although I think people's reactions to his death is way over the top and I have been quite disturbed by some of the comments people have made about him. One American said that he thought Steve Irwin typicified what was so great about Australians. I've lived in Australia my entire life and I've never met anybody who was remotely like Steve Irwin or spoke like him or even used the word "crikey".
