Every time I read one of KLOBBER'S posts, I see slander and flaming. You want to remove hostility from CC, get rid of KLOBBER. That would certainly make a difference.

Maybe it's just an attitude thing, as some posters project themselves here as pompass asses. To quote the gentle master of his own domain, "You reap what you sow." General Quigley's condesending, holy-er than thou posts might be a contributing factor to his perceived sense of hostility. To claim that "Chess is more competitive, deeper, and requires greater skill and emotional investment than does Conquer Club," is comparing light bulbs to pineapples (¿que es mas macho?) since both games require very different skills to play.

Gee owen... you noted that klobber made some good points ("to a degree"), but all he did was wave his accusing finger and make another generalisation with a very broad stroke. his tactics have smelled fishy from the git-go, so maybe he's correct in his assumptions. I've heard it said, it takes one to know one.

Actually, my experience with moderators has not been as negative as Klobber's appears to have been. Yes, Wicked had a God complex, that was easy to see, but she's since been neutered. yes, I resent Lancehoch's censorship and the lies he told to justify it when it was clear that the real reason is that he was actually named as being wrong in the very posy ne censored. But on other occasions Lancehoch has indeed been fair and reasonable. Neverthelss, Klobber is such an admirable player and so discerning and wise in everything he posts. My jury is still out on this issue.

I do thank all of you for sharing your insights into why there is such negativity in the forums here. The posts that said it was an issue of class, and the post that argued chess was a game of pure skill, whereas Conquer Club victories have player skill as only one of many determining factors, and therefore can more easily breed resentment of the uncontrollable factors, very convincing. I think I have a better understanding now.

well, well, well... shouldn't Klobb's be allowed to point out what he sees as examples of why the forums are so hostile? i think he has a valid point, to a degree. i don't believe the OP asked "why is it so hostile around here, give me some reasons as you see. however, if it involves the moderation, don't mention it." klobber stayed on topic, made some valid points, and you really can't fault him or question him on what he stated. when you had a now EX mod running rough shod over the forums, as if it were her own wild west. picking and choosing which rules to interpret, which members to punish, and when to implore "unwritten rules", you can't deny that led to the current hostile state. i myself am to blame for some of the degradation, and have taken it upon myself to stay on topic, limit the acerbic remarks, and give the mods a heads up whenver something needs to be tended to. you can not declare klobbers statement false. afterall, the sites shining "global moderator" turned this place into a cesspool and caused more havoc and damage to the site, than any other "offenders" of the forum rules. klobber has a point, and it should be taken into consideration as one of the factors that led to where the forums are now.-0

yet again, i don't hate wicked, and never hated wicked. i exchanged pm's and live chat with her and only thought she was a bad and abusive mod, but a decent person to talk with. now, what she did on her way out the door, that was just unbelievable. and as far as agreeing with klobber, i do to a degree. just because you don't like a person, doesn't mean that person can't have valid points. your dislike of klobber makes you unable to see the merit in some of his argument. the mods have, to a degree, contributed to the poor attitude on the forums, and a few of them are continuing on. there are some great mods that know how to contact a person or settle down a thread, while being civil about the matter, and not treating people as if they are 3yrs old. when you poke your head in a thread, and a mod has posted KNOCK IT OFF!!, that is not the way to get control of a thread or ask someone to back of a bit. that is a way to inflame the masses... anyway, everything is not about wicked, so get over yourself scott-land. you truly need to re-read what klobber wrote, and realize that, yes, even Klobb's can have a valid point from time to time.-0

Chess is a 1v1 game.In the event of a loss you may only blame yourself .In cc you can play a number of people with a maximum of seven at one time .Anyone of those seven or several can play the game very wrong and leave you feeling cheated .
Once in that frame of mind you may show certain signs of hostility and anger .This anger can be and you may share openly in the forums .
