Limited Freestyle

It occurred to me that the criticism for freestyle games could be stopped easily without actually making games take any longer. Everybody would have the ability to start their turn whenever during a round as per normal. However only one player could be playing their turn at any one time. This effectively prevents the problems with freestyle such as deploying on territories that are no longer yours and people waiting to attack until half way through another person's turn. This would be especially beneficial to RT games.
Sorry if this has already been suggested, but I think this would really cut out a lot of the problems with the current system. Thoughts?

lol no I haven't. Sorry, didn't know it had been suggested already. Feel free to delete this thread.
Gridiron is bang-on, my explanation/suggestion.

I know this is an old thread, but its a problem, and gets even worse in the following situation.
In Freestyle, once you get down to the last 2 players, one has a remarkable advantage. One can garner the 'cheap bonuses' by hovering
around the game, and when Player 2 starts round, they can hit 'Begin' and collect a bunch of bonuses. The reverse is not permitted.
Player 1 is frozen out until Player 2 completes.
I can see the appeal of simultaneous play (however not my preference), but I like the increased speed of freestyle games.
Clearly there can be middle ground (and a simple solution) with the addition of a THIRD format: Limited Freestyle (insert your own word if you may).
Has been suggested before, but basically, once somebody goes, game
locks out all others until they complete. If players want to hover, at least its less frantic.
Those who want to play sequential, play SEQUENTIAL.
Those who want to play freestyle (and its simultaneous nature), play FREESTYLE.
Those who want to play freestyle, but without its chaos and disadvantages, play LIMITED FREESTYLE.
If you've read this far, thank you.

yes I agree there should be options... in general, I would definitely prefer "limited freestyle", but I have also enjoyed some super-speed, super-real-time games: freestyle (and double-turn back when it was allowed) games where all players take their turns simultaneously throughout the game... it is definitely a very different game from RISK, but is still a lot of fun and somewhat simulates Real-Time Strategy games without the complicated graphics.
So anyway, I think both should be an option.

i am AGAINST this suggestion, if you don't like freestyle don't play freestyle, but taking turns at the same time is actually the fun part about freestyle (however sometimes it can be annoying, but hey, it's part of freestyle)

There is another thread called
Last player for turn suggestion/BUG FIX. that seems to address the same two issues:
- double turns
- interference in the middle of a turn
I think that the best solution is to add a couple of new game options so that people starting games can turn on-and-off simultaneous turns and, if simultaneous is on, set when the last person can get back in again (either immediately, as soon as the next person starts, or after the next persons turn is complete).
Thanks for all the hard work!

This idea is a joke - whoever gets lucky to hit "begin turn" at the right time - hardly any strategy. Especially when a new turn is arising, whoever is able to begin their turn first because of whatever reason will have complete control to dictate what happens.

You seem very vocal, Integral, but why not consider supporting my suggestion to make it an option so that you can play your way and I can play mine?
It's also very annoying that you are so passionate about it that you use nonsensical logic like "Whoever presses the Begin Turn button first . . . . "
