What about thick red lines?
Or something like
IMPASSABLE IMPASSABLE IMPASSABLE but curved around the border?
They're both rubbish ideas, but the best I've got right now

if you want the map realistic then simply do like on the benelux map where you have 2 types of borderlines.
if you don't then just add rivers and mountains as you please, chances are most people won't know and won't bother to see if those mounatins and rivers are real.

Marvaddin made it clear that he didn't want any natural borders. And thanks for the suggestion DiM.

no natural borders??

weird.
so he prefers a wall (with no realistic background) over a river a mountain, the jungle, etc???
then just add a line of impassable monkeys

Ok, now that the competition is abandoned, this map I guess is now [Offical], and is now not [Pending]. I am also requesting that the map be moved to the main foundry. Since I haven't been allowed to share images of my map with the foundry since the competition started till it ended, I will post the latest image (which I will call Version 5):
I have yet to make the impassables and the compass will probably be removed, remade or replaced.

Yes, I would like to do that. What would give it the flavour it needs?

I wish I could. But Marvaddin said I couldn't use rivers or mountains. Nothing natural.

Lol ok. I'll put one of those on right where the compass is right now. It will surely show the Brazilian feel.

no realistic borders.
Those are real impassables in Brazil, people are walking and they just stop. whole armies stop and stare. Brazil is a weird place!

You might consider putting in a few of the largest soccer club logos into the map. They vary greatly and are a very regional passion. It might give each bonus a nice addition. Or it might be overkill.

True indeed. My wife is suggesting that you add some topography to bonuses.
