this change will make CC a better place. i have seen active players high on the scoreboard quietly remove themselves from games that may not have had favorable starting positions for them... thank you lackattack!
do you know how you will handle the point loss for deadbeats? I think that anyone who does this on purpose, with the likely reason of trying to not put some of their overall score at risk in a game where they didn't like their starting position or outcome of round 1, should lose points in accordance with the regular scoring method (or maybe more!). ok...so how would the system determine if a player did this on purpose? one suggestion: if the player has made 1 or more moves in any other game between their first move or game start time of the 'deadbeat game' and the game ending time of the 'deadbeat game'.
I don't think this suggestion will encourage people to skip turns and then get multiple army sets in other games (which is allowed but its use as a tactic is a topic for another thread...) to avoid being labeled a deadbeat under the above scenario.
just a thought...

Deadbeats should lose a minimun 200 points and be forced to memorize
alstergren's defence of Deadbeating.

Perfect solution to the deadbeat problem!

I know that we don't want to reward players for beating a deadbeat, but how about simply deducting points from a deadbeat and not giving them to anyone.
This way, those who are trying to protect their ratings can be punished for deadbeating, but those who beat the deadbeats aren't rewarded. Simple enough right?

Posted many times... How can it be perfect?
I dislike the idea of points disappearing, like the points in team games with deadbeats... 3 guys defeat 2 and one deadbeat. Each loser losses 16 points, so the winners get 10 points each and 2 points simply disappear. These points could have a better use... like a bank to distribute them, or pay an amount of points for the loser when he losses more than 50 points (should be the maximum, in my opinion, because it is already more than almost all my recent standard victories).

It hardly matters. Anytime a new player shows up, loses points to a long-term player, and leaves permanently is a net gain to the active point pool as a whole. That happens quite frequently too.
Now if there was no new recruitment into the player pool then this would be a problem.

^^^^ exactly, there is always an excess amount of points in circulation. Also, many of the deadbeats are new recruits, who most likely will not come back and play again, so the points they lose have no affect on anything.

I agree about deadbeats losing points, but wouldnt be good have some use to the points? And this idea was already discussed many times, so you can imagine it isnt "perfect" as you think, guy. Whats the first thing that comes in mind after you read something like "defeat a deadbeat should not give points, because no skill needed"? This, of course. Could you really think this was the best idea, which would change CC forever and we all would need congratulate you?
In fact, thats not that simple, but I agree with the general idea, and lack has already something planned too. So, I mean, we can finish the discussion until there. What worries me is the points disappearing thing. And for recruit deadbeats, no punishment needed, dont you agree?

Yeah i agree that taking points from new recruits isn't all that necessary since chances are they won't be playing again anyways. I just figured that it would be easier to have a system inplace that has the same rules for all ranks.
Btw, I figured that this idea had been suggested before, but I hadn't really seen any reason not to have it other than disappearing points, which doesn't seem to be a big deal with all the extra points that new recruits have left behind. Good to know that something is in the works.
And I only called it the "perfect" solution so I could get your attention, lol.

I just played a game where a player deadbeated and i played every turn until the end. I lost 23 points while he only lost 21!!! I think deadbeats should be slammed at least 50 points per offense

I believe it has been explained by lack before that deadbeats aren't over penalized because he'd like to encourage them to play, not quit altogether.

well that is fine but why should i lose more points in a game when i played the whole game and he deadbeated that is not fair to me. So as i see it............... If im gonna lose it is better to deadbeat cuz i will lose less points? what is the motivation in that? (by the way i would never deadbeat but it is a valid point)

Instructions wrote:Score
Conquer Club players are initially given a score of 1000. At the end of each game, the winner takes points away from each loser. The points to be awarded is calculated as (loser's score / winner's score) * 20, up to a maximum of 100 points.

ok i know what the instructions say this is a suggestion form. I made the suggestion to penalize deadbeats for the reason that it is fair to no-one when someone deadbeats i have heard every excuse in the book but i mean come on you get 24 hours to take your turn and that is only if (in a three player game) the other two take theirs immediately after yours otherwise you have even more than that ...THERE IS NO EXCUSE FOR DEADBEATING IF YOU GOT SOMETHIN COMING UP DONT START A GAME I THINK THEY SHOULD BE PENALIZED!!!!!!!!!

There are plenty of excuses. What if something comes up that u dont expect. eg. a person close to you who lives in another place comes terribly ill and you have to go see them? what if you become very sick halfway through your game? what if a game goes on for much longer than you expect?

If you knew how the scoring worked then why make this statement? It doesnt calculate your score by whether you deadbeat or not, it goes off of your score. The more points you have, the more points you will lose if you deadbeat depending on your opponents scores.
Make deadbeats lose double points *Rejected*

So they will see it's better for them to play the game to the end...even when losing terribly

great idea, and hell yes! He or she has had to fight thru all that bull for the win, and deserve at least the points, if not the right to kick the buggers in the crotch too!!!!!!

I don't like the idea. That would mean the winner is gaining extra points for potentially doing nothing. The deadbeat armies can help or hurt anyone in the game....why should the winner get more points because of it? And I don't think it would be a good idea to subtract extra points and not give them to anyone. One of the nice things about CC is the total points is a constant ratio to the number of users. I wouldn't like to see that formula changed.
Finally, I don't like it because every once in a while your real life may have to take priority over your CC playing. If you have to go away unexpectedly for a weekend and deadbeat in few games I see no reason why you should be doubly penalized. Losing the regular amount of points is enough, IMO

i don't think when they lose dubble points the winners gest dubble points,
but i agree with the thing you said next to finally

speed game are meant to be fast n u shouldn't dead beat out at all.
if u r not ready dont join a speed game.
i strongly suggest that people who got kick in speed game due to dead beat should loss 2x his points.

Also missing a turn shouldn't get the armies doubled next turn
