Fair question, there are various forms of farming, but in it's most basic form farming is systematically targeting players or player combination's that have only a very small chance of winning for points. There are different ways people farm, so are against CC's rules some not.

Recruit Farming Targeting New recruits(question marks in either blue or red) who by definition have little or no experience, these farmer monopolise on the relatively high 1000pnt starting score and relieve them of there points quickly. This is against the rules, probably because it decreases the chances of the new recruit playing again. Infringements are punished with bans and point resets.

Noob Farming The same as above but in this case players who have played more than 5 games and are as such no longer "?") are targeted. This is not against the rules, and is usually used by 1vs1 specialists usually with the freestyle game setting,[player]David Hoekstra[/player] perhaps being the most successful and prolific player who uses this method of farming pretty much exclusively. This is not against the rules.

Map and Setting Specialisation whether or not this is farming is open to interpretation, but this method's exponents stick to a small group of maps (usually large) and very specific settings, (usually freestyle, often speed) these games are played fast and won quickly, previous conquerors [player]king_herpes[/player] and [player]karelpietertje[/player] achieved their crowns with this method, however, these players can hardly be described as farmers because of their caliber which allows them to beat pretty much everyone with there chosen maps and settings however when ?'s are targeted its against the rule, otherwise it's considered shady but legal.

Team Farming utilising the the 'invite' tool experienced teams often boost their scores by setting up team games and inviting a player who is unlikely to or has been asked not to accept the invitation, this stops complete opposing teams joining as the -reserved- mark fills up on of the team spots, this leave the floor open for unexperienced low rankers who want to experience team play, these players with no one to guide them over the kinks and nuances of teamplay invariably loose. Not against the rules.

I'm sure there are other ways of farming and combinations of categories but those are the basics. Hope it helps.

It is a futile cause - though one I endorse -, but still an interesting test of our right to expression. I'm in.
