Third tie-breaker is number of goals scored. US leads England 3-1 there. According to Nate Silver:
Should the 0-0 result hold, #USA will have about a 70% chance of advancing, #SVN about 65%, and #ENG only about 55%.

Agree with everything, especially the last bit.

A real decent manager would of had the bollocks in sufficient size to take off Rooney at half time and stick on Joe fucking Cole. What a complete fucking disaster of a game with zero input by the 6 million pound manger.

Did anyone else see the bit when the players were leaving the pitch and Rooney mouthed off at the camera?
I switched over from ITV to the Irish coverage on RTE (ostensibly for some brutally honest opinion) and was both delighted and amazed when they proceeded to not only show that bit in detail but also to provide sound for us.
Rooney snarled to the camera "I've never heard home fans booing before, call themselves proper fans? Fucks sake!"
Or words very close to that (Forgive me, I've been drinking) and then, fair play to the unbiased Irish (!) they then proceeded to mock, ridicule and, yes my friends, to lambast not only the crappy performance but also the unadulterated cheek of Rooney who, by the Irish pundits unforgiving (yet, in oh, so many ways apt) appraisal had been nothing but a huge let-down in this World Cup having the audacity to complain when booed by his own fans.
Johnny Giles summed it up masterfully "If you play like that you expect to get booed, Bill"
"I apologise for the bad language at the end of Rooney's interview" the legendarily taciturn and normally disinterested anchor Bill O'Herlihy positively beamed into the camera before concluding "if you can call it an interview".
Delightful stuff!

I'm agreeing with all the neg's yeah we were shite with a capital shite (scotland!) but should still scrape through regardless so there it is, we get to go through REAL emotion next game ;)

Man i wish i had RTE, it would save me 10 minutes of england chat during every single game. And to be fair rte slam everyone, espcially ireland. They are a lot less biast than ebc or etv.

Love how its changed from garunteed to go through (as alan shearer said after the draw with usa) to "should". I just watched the "highlights", what a shit game but was fun to watch through again just for laughs.

Yeah RTE's cool, they'll happily give out about anything and everything.

Can't believe you've changed your av to the Slovenian flag! Jesus exactly how much raping and pillaging of your great-great-grannies village did we actually do?

I ain't an unhappy man, on the whole well-balanced and forward-looking; sadly diametrically opposed to the England team's performances thus far ;)

Haha you'd be the same if you had to listen to reports on how say Germany were going to win the world cup before, at half time and after every single game

And the avi change was in response to this disgraceful traitor to his homeland: [player]lordnex[/player]

Yea RTE take it out on everyone,Eamon dunphy is probably the most straight forward person youll see talking about football.

here some of the funniest things about RTE : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OYg3hJdq96I.

England were shit and i wouldnt be surprised if they lose against slovenia.it would be funny if slovenia and algeria both go through ,everyone expected England and USA to progress but as they say football is unpredictable.

Are you sure you spelled "Slovenia" correctly, or is "slovinia" part of the joke?

Quit worrying about it. England only needs to win against Slovenia.

Why in hell does England have a defensive coach when The Premier is all about 2 passes and goal?

I can't believe that with players like Gerrard, Lampard, Rooney you can't beat Slovenia.

Mexico in the other hand has 4 points but goes against Uruguay. A defeat against them (very plausible) and we're out.

Lol the final games of this group are gonna be awesome. Slovenia could probably take on the England we've seen tonight (except they seem shit at defending but still), it'd warm my heart to see them join France in the "pitifully eliminated first round of WC" club :P
Anyway Algeria played well, lacked a bit in the offensive and I still don't get why both coaches didn't make the obvious changes of unloading the midfield to add another striker seeing as both sides were skipping it with ease all the time anyway. There seems to be a trend to keep trusting players who don't do shit on the faint hope their next game could be better, so prolly Rooney & Lampard will be back at it.
I wouldn't bet on USA either... A draw wouldn't be enough for them to pass neh?

Netherlands vs Japan tomorrow should be worth a look, for some reason I'm expecting another draw though... Ghana-Australia shouldn't be one, Germany, Serbia & Ghana could all end at 6 pts in the last day so it might be a game of who scores more against the aussies :D

OK. SO I understand that both the yanks and the brits put on disgraceful performances today, but how is the story of the day not "GERMANY LOSES TO SERBIA!!!"?

Germany drubs the Aussies, 4-0, while the Serbs lost to Ghana! How does that turn into what I just watched?

And it's not like they fluked it. The Serbs were the better-looking team today.

ASTOUNDING!
