AndyDufresne wrote:Regarding the shape of Kashmir in the legend, he was refering to my suggestion of replacing the circle with true border representation of the region. So instead of a circle with the gray lines, it would simply be an outline of the country filled with the gray lines. Then it can look different from the symbol above.

Also, wisse, would you consider maybe darkening that red text in the legend? It might make it a little easier to ready.

ah so you mean, i must copy that country make it smaller and put it in the legend? ok

ok i will try to make it easyer to read

in your small version almost all your coordinates are one pixel too high

I believe they're off in the large too, but I honestly didn't look as closely as the small

Hi! I am a newbie to Conquer Club and a Chinese. I'm happy to there will be a China map.
I'd like to express some suggestions as below, hope it would be better:

1. Misspelling
a. Guangdon should be Guangdong
b. Antrui should be Anhui
c. Guanxi should be Guangxi
d. Jianxi should be Jiangxi

2. Continents
Using Military Areas would be the best way. As Provinces are directly under the central goverment and there is no more political grouping in between.

3. The flag
Is the pattern is added intentionally? I would prefer plain red.

4. The Yin-Yang Symbol
The Yin-Yang symbol got not much relationship with the cities Hong Kong, Shanghai or Beijing. May be 3 simple stars would be better.

Others are well done. Hope to play the map ASAP.

Hmm... why on earth is there a Taiwan province of present-day China?

It's not a clear-cut issue, but: Taiwan is not part of China. That China has a claim on it is a different matter.

If you wish to leave it, naming the map "China and Taiwan" would be more correct.

Admitedly, I have not read the entire thread. Nonetheless - why on earth would you do this (in effect appeasing the Chinesee regime)?

EDIT: In other words - Suggestion: Remove Taiwan from the China map. (After all, you don't include Canada in a present day U.S. map. The same thing.)

The thing is that mainland China considers Taiwan to be a province of China, Taiwan considers itself the rightful ruler of the mainland so to take Taiwan out of the map would make everyone that calls themselves Chinese unhappy.

Another question I'd like to ask that quite possibly has been asked before is why did you choose to use "Nei Mongol" instead of "Inner Mongolia" and why "Xizang" instead of "Tibet." These regions are called "autonomous" by the mainland government and have their own traditional English names.

Ok then, no official declaration of independence has been made. Read up a little more about Taiwan. But, in that case I suggest that the symbol on top of the map are removed or amended. It's not fitting to have the Commie flag/symbol there. Perhaps adding the symbol of Taiwan (Republic of China) as well? I don't see why a mainland China symbol should solely represent China.

Because these is a insignia of People republic of China.

Yes. But it's not a symbol of the Republic of China (Taiwan). And since Taiwan is on the map, its symbol should be there as well (or no symbol at all).

Actually China and Taiwan are considered as two different countries and the only way that Taiwan will ever be part of mainland China is if the Chinese invade Taiwan with a military force.

depends whos viewpoint this is tken from the chinese would say that taiwan was part of china

i am chinese and agree absolutely with alstergren: if the flag and political emblem for the people's republic are included, then so should the ones for the republic of china (taiwan). better still, remove them both and replace by a dragon or something.

it's possible to use the name of "greater china" as a description of the area that includes china and taiwan. this is often done in business journalism and seems not to offend most people.

incidentally, about half of taiwanese (or taiwan chinese), including the present government, do not consider that they have any claim on mainland china at all and prefer total independence to unification (while the other half take the opposite view).

ian. :)
