For once in his life. However, if science says life cannot come from non-life, where did life come from?

THAT is the question!

Assuming:

1. Life can not come from non-life

We must conclude:

1. That life has always existed in various forms for eternity past. (illogical)

or

2. There is a God.

Holy crap, that's the craziest dichotomy I've ever seen.

For some of the most recent research that life may have come from chemical in rocks see http://www.npr.org/templates/story/stor ... d=17007216.

There is no need for your assumption.
There is no logical reason why eternity should not stretch infinitely far into the passt.

Not only is the assumption not a tenet of science, quite the opposite is true as my reference to the NPR report on scientists that are researching that very issue. They have a theory that they are working on that DNA formed in chemical between the layers of mica, a form of rock. Thus, because scientists are researching this issue, it is not possible that there is a settled principle that life could not form from non-life and the assumption is patently false.

Where did the mica come from? Always been floating around in space huh?

The point is that the mica is not alive, nor the chemicals in it. Life could very well have come from non-life, which is the point that goes directly to the faulty premise in your opening post.

OK, I am sure the press will cover it, you might subscribe to the Science Friday podcast if you want to follow such stuff. But I am glad to see you concede that scientists are working on the issue, that is a step forward from claiming that the matter was settled for science.

I know this discussion of infinity and god is hard to get your mind around, and I wish you happiness in your pursuit of understanding.

Not untill you concede that life can come from non-life.

It really seems that once we make sense to people, they just stop posting, not that they change their minds... what about you?

This Mica thing is semi-new to me. I remember reading about the search a minute ago... but that they had a likely culprit is new to me. Thanks for sharing!

And Mica of all stones! Common and everyhing... it's almost like there is nothing special about it.... This gives me new hope of finding life on other planets.

Didn't someone post an article about how diamonds can help the process a few days ago?

You know... I never thought that you were dumb before... but seriously, I'm wondering. Why do you refuse to believe this? It does make sense. What about NEOTENY's artical about the Samonila or whatever that was? What about FOSSILS(serious, and in general)? Or Carbon 14? Or the expanding universe? Or DNA symbolince? What about the Chicago experiment?

All you know is that you don't believe them, and sure, you know why. But that makes you a bad human being. You can't just dismiss facts. Or make up your own. Like it or not Packrat, Evolution is the obvious answer. Creationism (in the version put forth) has NO LEGS TO STAND on. It's all made up-or distorted facts.

And to keep on topic, no it doesn't. So far science(general) has done a kick ass job of explaining everything that is everything. Welcome to gravity bitches. Demons ain't holding your body down so it can't fly to heavan.

OK, time to cool it. Jay is a true believer, and he isn't going to change because of one thread. He did however concede that there are scientists working the issue, and he is off the "logic dictates" horse, pretty much. He is left with his strong faith, and well you cannot argue against faith, just respect it and move on. So long as he doesn't try and shove his faith into my science and down my throat, I don't care what he believes.

Where to begin?

Carbon 14 dating? This is not an accurate way of dating. The process requires measuring the carbon in said item. In order to correctly carbon date, using half-life, you must know what the carbon content was to begin with. Eventually time runs out, and the carbon dating process is no longer effective. (It is only effective for a few thousand years) So much for dino fossils being 23,000,000 years old.

What you call facts are hardly that. There are very few "facts" when it comes to evolution.

I believe we have come full circle, what is this the 2,000th circle. Maybe we can carbon date it! ;)
