i think the map was much better at Version 29:S

You get a to strong red around the map which shouldent be there, it was much more light in Version 29 than 30...

Well Tom, i think i got mostly that you said:
-Lighter, Switzerland is snowy
-I made the colors more neutral (which doesnt make any sense to me because Switzerland is neutral in war, not in colors. Neutral colors are just desaturated colors... I dont get how that makes you think of Switzerland more.)
-I took away the bevel (I dont get that one either)

Personally, i think v29 looks much better than v31. Is this what you wanted? If so, let's see hear some opinions.

now i like V31 better, only thing which is a bit "To Bright" is the snow lands, try to dim it a bit but dont make it grey. Other than that this version much better. Again you have some areas of the snow land to bright:D

Personally I have never been a fan of the bevel, and prefer the general look of v31 - despite the fact that you only put it up as a joke/out of desperation

I still think the background looks too grey, but sadly don't have any decent suggestions at the moment.

The lake on the border of Fribourg looks a little bit like a blob, and looks like it's on a different layer to the river. Is there anything you can do to the edge (somebody used the word affluents in another thread) to make it look more 'coastal'?

I think the theme is fine personally, so if you guys who dont like it are going to continue to complain, you need to give me some suggestions! I'm clueless!

Kap...just reading through...what do you want. It's nice to try and please everyone, but until you decide what you want to show, you'll remain clueless. No offense.

Yes I agree with you here, V29 looks better than the others, it appears less washed out.
The only other thing i'd like to see is restoration of the "real red" to the Swisse flag...right now it looks almost chocalitised.

The red is darker because the layer is put on overlay.

And I honestly have no idea about the poll...
Im gonna try to make a nicer version with light colors.

How about a compromise?
I really liked the look of the playable map, and I think some others agreed. I thought it looked better, and was easier to play on. So I kept it.

Others wanted the map to be lighter. The BG made the map seem really dark, so I made that much lighter. I think it looks much "snowier" now.

Some other random things:
Country names are now in their respective languages.
Some things in the keys were changed (layer styles)
The flag is the right color now
I made my sig look less like a country name
I made the transition from river to lake look nicer


So, is this a good compromise?

it looks pretty good, this is my first comment on it. i think maybe you could add the bonus value of the regions in that legend type thing in the upper right. and i don't understand why there are 2 territs in the purple area that look like they have a little grey in them... is this intentional?

and... i thought you were on vacation for a bit, are you already back?

Really better than your last "dark period", a bit like a candy box, I like it.
I think you did finally find a style for this map.
Just a minor point but it seems to me you did put some BG image behind upper right legend box, I don't think you need it.

The lighter one is better, and a step in the right direction, but it still doesn't say Switzerland, and tweaking the brightness will only get you so far.
