is there anyway to where you can allow only certain people with certain ranks join so if you play a game with a cook and he happens to get great dice rolls and then we lost like 50 points

Game with rank requirements
Posted: Fri Jan 18, 2008 8:34 pm
by strikercc
* Suggestion Idea: A game (for premium members to start) that has a rank requirement to join it
* Specifics: The game requirements could not be higher than the rank of the starter.
* Why it is needed: I hate it when low ranks join a game and when by luck and i lose a lot of points this way a game could be started where us higher ranks dont need to worry about low ranks

Optional Rank Criteria in order to Join

After being suicided against multiple times and dealing with newbie deadbeats, I find my self wishing there was a button that allowed you to block players who were at least one rank below you. Maybe limit this to the premium users, doesnt prevent high ranked players from joining, but rather players that are ranked much lower than you are. I think its a good idea. Thoughts...
I am used to having this option when playing online chess, just thought it would be nice to have here.

perhaps not just 1 rank below you but a only allow {rank} selection in start a game

This has been suggested multiple times and been rejected. The only way to actually "block players" from joining your games is either to create private games and invite friends, or put people on your ignore list (i really doubt that you would want to take the time to put everyone below a certain score on your list)

Not only that I dont want to have to update my block list. I like the fact that I private can work his way up to a certain level in order to play in the higher games. I dont want to permantely block anyone since a private may not always be a private.
Also I think it greatly changes the dynamic of a game when play privates they have very little to lose and a lot to gain that sometimes influences how they play (ie suiciding)

I would like this option but then you would have people who would have games that only allowed super high ranks. My score fluctuates a LOT! One day I'm a major others I'm a sergeant. I wouldn't want to be blocked from playing with my high rank buddies just because I am having a bad day!

Actually your score wouldn't fluctuate as much if you were playing players more closely to your rank. The biggest fluctuations come from losing players with a significantly lower rank. Also I thought about this and I figured that the criteria couldnt be any higher than 2 ranks below you. For example, Sergeant could only prevent privates and below from playing. Also this would be an option button clicked when setting up a game. Super high ranked players might have trouble setting a game that excluded sergeants.

Many people don't want the segregation that this would cause amongst the CC community

If you can't beat the lower ranks along with the higher ranks, you don't deserve your points. If you really want to play with those of your rank, just play private games. There are "Leagues" of all ranks over in the Callouts forum, why don't you hop on over there and ask for the password for your rank?

But this statement impies that segregation would happen only because IF given the OPTION most players would take the option to of playing players closer to their own rank. And most would want it why not have it.
Earning a high rank should have some privelages also.

If seems a lot of players are looking for this option, why not have something to make it easier for them. Instead of forcing them to have this option only thru private games, etc. Make it easy, you know.

I'm fine with this...
I believe that this option SHOULD be available!... For the conquerer only, however. After all, earning a high rank should have some privileges...
