I found two definitions for "plantain".

1plantain \'plan-ten\ n any of a genus of weedy herbs with spikes of tiny greenish flowers

2plantain n a banana plant with starchy greenish fruit that is eaten cooked; also : its fruit

Yes but anywhere where shi or 4 is followed by kyu, dan, etch it becomes yan. On another note Rokukyu is the belt before green and and Im not sure how they convert shichi...I should but I honestly can't remember.

In any case, spending almost 6 years on Okinawa has given me an appreciation for the Japanese language and culture. Those were the best years of my childhood on that island.


Yes I'd love to visit Japan and Okinawa if for no other reason than to visit Grand Master Eizo Shimabuku.
