We had a big surge in December as people were going on holiday breaks. I suspect a lot of them went inactive again at the beginning of January, and we're seeing them fall back off the scoreboard.

not so sure on that ...30 days inactive removes them from list so in feb we would have seen those fall ..this is a high drop rate but does not show the amount going freebie ...couple the two its double yikes ..im seeing so many go freebie the gate way to logging off for good
Survey the last 1000 that left to get data on why ..if possible try and address those issues ..if many surveys come back go further in the list ..it also shows site cares about its members and may even bring some back ...
keep it simple 4 or 5 questions and offer incentive for time taken to fill out the survey ..
nothing ventured nothing gained

5090 25 more dropped in 3 daze ...by next Sunday at this rate it will be under 5 k ...and summer isn't here yet ..
Great idea. Surveys with a freebie for completing them is an excellent marketing strategy. It seems to me the problem is not so much losing players, since all businesses constantly lose players - the problem is there seems to be nothing being done to add new players. No marketing is being done that I can tell. Hell, it was pure dumb luck I found this site.

i don't think it matters too much if cc has 21 or 18 thousand members.
what i'd like to know is how many are premium? we pay for this site so are our numbers increasing, decreasing or stagnating?

Currently sitting at 4994.
Looking through this thread at the approximate numbers as close as possible to May 20 over the last few years:
2012: 15,200
2013: 13,300
2014: 11,500
2015: 8900
2016: 7400
2017: 6100
2018: 5600
2019: 5000
So we're been averaging ~15% loss of players year over year, though it's closer to 10% loss for the last two years.
