Hi Hulmey....Ford Island can be attacked from V4, SP Tender Tangier and Battleship Tennessee.

Since, as I understand it, V4 can only be attacked from the island itself, it is more or less a part of it. This would mean that Ford Island is basically a 10 or 11 territory continent worth 9 in bonuses (7+2 AA) with only 2 points to defend. This seems incredibly overpowered, particularly in triples play.

Hey, love the map, but this seems like a major concern.
Since, as I understand it, V4 can only be attacked from the island itself, it is more or less a part of it. This would mean that Ford Island is basically a 10 or 11 territory continent worth 9 in bonuses (7+2 AA) with only 2 points to defend. This seems incredibly overpowered, particularly in triples play.

Well there's a few options as I see it:
1) Lower Ford Island's bonus. This seems suboptimal, since it's a big impressive military structure and getting +2 for holding it just wouldn't feel right.
2) Remove some of the one way attack conditions on the ships. Probably the most sensible thing to do, but I really like all the one way attacks on this map.
3) This is pretty crazy, but what if you let planes attack the runway? It makes some sense (they're planes... it's a runway) but if you really think about it, I guess we're imagining some guy landing a Zero amid anti-aircraft fire and unloading a squadron of ninjas to attack the island. While this is pretty cool, and would alleviate the game balance concern, it does kind of take us out of the authentic Pearl Harbor feel. Still, I think this is my favorite fix, and I bet Michael Bay wishes he'd thought of it first.

I like your thinking on this. I also like the one way attacks, and having the planes attacking the runway doesn't matter since they are also attacking the ships (I would liken the ninjas landing to suicide pilots), but that made me think....what if we had a bonus -2 if you hold Ford Island + V4...that would equate to lowering the bonus for all that area.

hehe - even i think the bonus's are high. Could you give us a round up of the amount of countries per contintent and the number of borders they have. This will give us a good indication if the bonuses are balanced.
Also i think there maybe some conufusion with playes that dont follow our map concerning the islands attack points. Maybe you could make them clearer?

IN the table hulmey, the number ot defend to continent is important.
With the zeroes there are 7, and that will not change.
But I have counted 7 for Ford island, when i think is should only be 3 defending, to give a bonus of 4 for Ford Island.
So i'll get someone to check that out. Thanks.

Actually, i've check the oil storage and itr is worth 5.
I'll get WM to check the bonuses.

Well, let's use a benchmark. North America is worth five and it has (if I remember correctly) 9 territories to defend, three borders, for a bonus of 5. Oil here has 10 territories and three borders. Five seems like a reasonable bonus to me.
