I am interested but concerned - if you give first round byes to higher ranked players then they may not have to play as many games.
or did I misunderstand what you meant ?
after all the lowliest chef can sometimes get lucky and beat a captain for instance..

Small reward for success. Plus they have to play the lowest ranks which means giving up a lot of points if they lose. So they are sacrificing plenty. Plus the difference between 9 and 10 wins in a row is nearly inconsequential.

And in the end there's only 1 winner of hundreds. Anybody's goal should be to go deep and just enjoy the competish.
