I think the suggestion sounds good. I will add it to the first post later tonight.

Chariot of Fire wrote:btw....question for the organisers.....
Do you think it's a good idea to introduce a 'cup-tied' rule for this competition (whereby any player that has represented a clan in any of these Cup games cannot play for another competing clan should he or she switch loyalties during the contest)?
Seems like a fair and sensible rule to me as it will negate the desire to poach quality players as the tourney progresses, effectively making a clan's membership (as it stands now) having to stay the course.
It's done in many cup competitions - and in this one, given the nature of CC, would seem to make good sense. Cheers
Basically saying if a clan picks up a new player in the middle of the cup and that player was in another clan participating in the cup at the beginning than that player can not participate in cup games with his/her new clan.reptile wrote:i am confused about what this means. if it has anything to do with the tourney could you explain please... if not... disreguardChariot of Fire wrote:so Chuck....what about my suggestion re cup-tied players?
I would hope, that this kind of practice is generally frowned upon. IA doesn´t approach members of other clans, if they don´t come to us first.Chuuuuck wrote:The intention is to prevent a clan from poaching good players. it doesnt prevent you from picking them, it prevents you from using them in c cupChuuuuck wrote:The intention is to prevent a clan from poaching good players. I completely agree. I haven't heard of any of that happening, so I assume it doesn't.ahunda wrote:I would hope, that this kind of practice is generally frowned upon. IA doesn´t approach members of other clans, if they don´t come to us first.

haha, it's fine. I just kind of wanted to make you feel a bit guilty for asking again after not reading my previous response.Georgerx7di wrote:Oh sorry, never read the response. Only reason I could think of is to prevent a player from leaving his clan just to play, then go back to his original clan. It may be frowned upon by everyone involved but if that doesn't bother the clan/individual then there is nothing to stop them from doing it.Bruceswar wrote:Lubawski wrote:I completely agree. So then why should a player have to sit out if he changes clans? I can tell you no clan of note will be recruiting players from other clans just for this cup. To suggest someone who try that, is not offering any respect to the player. I think as long as they are in no more games with their old clan, they should be able to help right away in the new clan should they want to.
It would be like saying, Sorry a free agent signing / trade was made mid season in any sport. All players involved, must sit out and wait till next year. Like that would ever happen.
bruce.. the term cup-tied originates in sport! i think it is a very fair rule.Bruceswar wrote:Lubawski wrote:I completely agree. To be fair to Blitz and the ponies. You all will notice they had the lowest Standard Deviation out of anyone. Meaning, most people agreed they were #1.Blitzaholic wrote:Chariot of Fire wrote:Did you mean #2 khaz?khazalid wrote:be fair now, we didn't get to number 1 by being nice!

no, he meant we are # 1 CoF, we don't care what Jp currently put you at, as many said in the tourney organizer thread, we remain # 1 til someone beats us in a clan challenge. Also, all clans voted on top clans and vast majority ranked us # 1 as you can see by the Tourney CUP bracket format.
I'm with Bruce here. There is an honor system in clans, and nobody wants to be tagged as a pariah for cheap tactics. Throw in a punishment for having a member join your clan mid-Cup and leaving directly after it (disqualification)*, and you're set.Chuuuuck wrote:Only reason I could think of is to prevent a player from leaving his clan just to play, then go back to his original clan. Understandibly DD gave up. They had no chance anyway.Chuuuuck wrote:Divine Domination has withdrawn themselves from the competition due to losing some members and not having enough actually active players to compete. Since no one has started their threads yet, instead of just counting their game as a forfeit, I will adjust the bracket tomorrow moving everyone behind them up 1. Reason being, if I count their game as a forfeit then DVDLL would get a bye when actually AoC deserves it. AoC will no longer be in a play-in game. Instead they will be facing IA in the first round.
I apologize for any inconvenience this has caused any of you preparing to start your play-in games. I just found out about this and this is the most fair way for me to handle it. Bracket will be updated tomorrow evening.

Not happy to see we have to play Left4Dead. We are in a clan-challenge with them at the moment.Chuuuuck wrote:As promised, the bracket and seedings have been updated on the 2nd post.
Because everyone involved in play-in games were planning on playing them anyway, the start date will still be February 13 meaning home games must be sent by the end of the day February 13 and all games must be joined by the end of the day February 17. (All Central Standard Time)
Please remember, the higher seeded clan needs to start a thread in the Active Challenges forum and start the title of the clan war with "C.C." so it can be identified as part of the tournament.

I apologize Frederik, there are a lot of rematches in this tournament set up already but I can't change any of them. It is all based on the seeding. The bracket should be final now, I don't think anyone else will drop out. As of 1 week before the start date (this Saturday), anyone who drops out will be a forfeit and I won't change the bracket because I don't want people to have to prepare for more than 1 clan.Frederik Hendrik wrote:Not happy to see we have to play Left4Dead. *please not the "leaving directly after it;" I'm well aware players change clans, especially in the less-established/lower ranked ones.
