I think it looks 100% better without the flag, and you could try it at the bottom in the empty area?

Just my opinion though. If most people think it would be better left in place then thats fine.

well the bridge holland-fireasland is there in real live as a dike/bridge so it should be a bridge

yeah look it isn't like a bridge, about 40 years ago the water around flevoland was sea, now it isn't because its not salt water anymore because of that "bridge"
