Yes that should happen occasionally. But not all the time. Last year at this time I got so disgusted I started playing on other sites. But I miss the people. Without the people, I am so gone. But I am not going to frustrate myself with contests here anymore.

So really do take me off this ladder.

Silly, it's all a matter of where you are relative to the dead dice backslide. That's where the cycle is re killer and crap dice. When I get into the backslide I usually sink to at least Sgt and often into the Pvt range. Then it always slowly changes and I rise back up to major or at least captain. I also find that if I have a lot of games going that I'll have dead dice in some and killer in others; many more dead dice games in the backslide and more killer or at least good dice in the rise. Surely you enjoy the ladder matches whether you win or lose. I know I do. And I always enjoy games with you, win or lose, ladder or other.

Please stay. You can always go on hiatus while in the backslide if you wish. Then come back and start climbing again when the dice pick up and start rolling right for you. We'll be lessened too much without you and I didn't write that long pm to the whole ladder crew just to watch people leave after we got going again.

I have to agree with Steve and Erik...take a break. Heck, I'm feeling good...if you want to take a Hiatus until Jan. 1 to give your dice some hibernation time, I'll allow it.

Normally....yes, you can challenge him....BUT, LA does get his Referral Bonus since you played your first match:

4. Referral Bonus: Because the Ladder has taken a heavy hit with members leaving CC over the past year, if you refer a player to join the Ladder, you will move up five (5) rungs. The new player has to become active right away.

Disclaimers for the Referral Bonus:

• 1. You can refer as many players as you wish, but you will only receive the bonus one time.
  2. The referred player must play at least one Ladder match before the bonus will be awarded.
  3. You cannot take over the #1 spot, but will be moved to #2 and allowed to call DIBS when it becomes available.
  4. All referred players must state who referred them.
  5. The Referral Bonus will end at 0001 CC Time, on January 1, 2019.

So, Erik now moves up to #10 and is out of reach of Elaterate.

Also, please make sure you post your victory, Elaterate. Otherwise, the victory will not be recorded.

Got the challenge recorded...Before anyone says anything, xroads issued the challenge without knowing Lord Arioch was going to get the Referral Bonus, so I'm going to allow the challenge to mackadoo to stay.

I re-read the rules - I should not have posted these results because the third game is ongoing. Will post again when that is finished.

Question - once a challenge is accepted, am I correct that each player sets up one game with that player's choice of settings, approved in the rules. And the challenged player sets up the tie-breaker. All three games are to be set up at the same time, not to wait until it is necessary to break at tie.

I have heard from one player on the ladder that only two games need be set up UNLESS it is a tie, then the third gets set up. That is not how I read the rule nor how I have seen it handled by most.

That's what I thought but I've also been told that my opponent would set up the 2nd if necessary.

And it's the challenger, not the challenged who sets up 2. The 1st is just putting your name in the 1st player slot and your opponent's in the 2nd and the rest is all set. The 2nd is your choice of settings but still random map.

Steve is definitely right about who sets up the third game - the challenger. Seems the consensus is that is done right away upon the challenge, not waiting until the other two are decided.

18. The #2, #3, #4, #5, or #6 player may call “DIBS” to challenge the #1 player if the #1 player is currently being challenged by someone in the Top 6. If the player calling “DIBS” falls out of the Top 6, he/she also loses their “DIBS” to play the #1 player. There will only be one “DIBS” at a time.

I am a lawyer so have to keep asking questions. Don't hold that against me (too much).

Right now russde is number 1. Chuck called "dibs". Interestingly, Chuck just beat me to knock me out of 2nd. But I have won 2 of the three games so I will be #1 once we finish the third game. The dibs must apply to me, right?

And since Chuck won the battle for #2, he can play me two challenges in a row once I take over first place, right?
