natty_dread wrote:Now that you mention it, yes those texts in the upper edge (Batting team, Fielding team, Catching six etc.) look a bit fuzzy.

The legend text looks much better now though.

Hopscotcher wrote:More Specifically..........

The Batting Team needs to be........ Less Fuzzy

The Fielding Team needs to be....... One Shade Lighter Green

Catching a Six needs to be........ One Shade Brighter Purple

The Police needs to be........ Less Dark blue. It's in with the black, which makes it blend.

Maybe it would help if you made the very thin strip where the names are a tad lighter?

I know this must be a pain, but I haven't looked at this forever and the first thing my eyes did was go whaaaaaaaaaaaat does that say?

The border between Public 3 and 4 is almost impossible to make out. Can you move it down a little bit, say to the point where 2 trees connect? Just to make the line more noticeable.

I've moved the bar to the right a fraction and there should now be a clearer border line there.

On the field you have Batter 1 / Batter 2, but in the stands you have Batsman 3, 4, 5.... I'd suggest changing one or the other for consistency.

Is the Lords Tavern part of the Ozzi Ockers bonus? I don't see why it would be (as it's not connected to it), but the background suggests that it is. Is it only accessible from Public 14?

I don't get the "Catching a six" thing. I'm guessing that it's referring to the purple circles, but can see nothing to confirm that association.

There are probably more things I could pick out, but I'll leave it there.

I know my opinion doesn't matter whatsoever and there really may be no reason to post this except to get bashed for having said opinion but:

I don't get it. I don't think it has any appeal. It's not amazing to look at. It seems like you just try to be complex for complexity sake. I wish you wouldn't keep trying to push the envelope and make maps that are interesting and challenging but still appealing to the wide-range of users in the community.

Again just my opinion, and I know I know, I can't do any better, he's made tons of great maps, so on and so forth. I still felt like I should share my opinion.

Once again and as always, MrBenn, you're timing is impeccable.
Some of these issues should have been raised during gameplay.

MrBenn wrote:On the field you have Batter 1 / Batter 2, but in the stands you have Batsman 3, 4, 5.... I'd suggest changing one or the other for consistency.

..and i'd prefer leaving it as is, as both of these words are used to describe that position. Batsman is too long to fit on the field without bumping into other words. And players of the map should learn that. Batter 1 & 2 simply are used to refer to those on field, and not in the grandstand.

Is the Lords Tavern part of the Ozzi Ockers bonus? I don't see why it would be (as it's not connected to it), but the background suggests that it is. Is it only accessible from Public 14?
That, yes would possibly cause confusion. i'll fix. Public 14 access, yes.

I don't get the "Catching a six" thing. I'm guessing that it's referring to the purple circles, but can see nothing to confirm that association.
then you aren't reading the legend, since there are pink circles in the bonus section, in the amongst the fans, and that colour is used in the title as CATCHING A SIX. Surely you can make some association from that.

Well, you opinion does matter, and i'm not going to bash you for it....but there are others out there beside you who will play this map, since you're not the only person in CC. It may not have appeal to you, but it will to others, and you don't have to play it if you can't (or don't want to) understand it.
Thanks for your opinion anyways. :)

I thought i'd share this with you to show that i am not lying. It came via email last week.

adam666 wrote:mate i was just wondering how the cricket map is going it looks great and i would like to run some cricket tourneys on it ( one day world cup,20/20 world cup ,ipl ,test matchs im blowing my mind as to what i can run on this map again it looks great keep up the great work
adam (highest score with the bat 139 best bowling figures inns 6 -20 match 10 -37) gotta love the game

Now stands to reason, that if there is one person who says this, then there are possibly more out there who would play this map... :) ....particularly in tournies.

Yeah one person says they'll play the map, I am also one person who says it isn't appealing, so it stands to reason that there are more of me as well?

Look as I said before, I know my opinion holds no ground to you whatsoever, and I know this map will be quenched no matter anyone's opinion (it has happened before) so you continually trying to argue against my opinion is almost as pointless as me posting it. I hope you know how many members there are on this site and understand that you're appealing to about 50-80 of them, if that. That's all. Now I think I have complete solidarity to speak so rashly and abrasively as I have been in this post seeing as how in your last post all you seemed to do was condescend me and brush me off, as you do anyone who you don't agree with. (as well as the way you spoke to MrBenn who is only trying to help, and you should actually listen to him once in awhile)

Anyway, thanks for your time and good luck with your map.

From the above, for MrBenn, (and it seems according to another player who recently commented) that i don't listen to MrBenn, but then i adjust the map on his consideration....go figure...

In the one with the numbers, Tbar and Sharon were a little too close together I thought.

A couple more minor nitpicks :P

I have a minor concern that people might miss the connection between Public 1 / public 14, but have no idea how to remedy that.

Is there any way you can make the border between Public 3/Public 4 slightly clearer? I know you can't move the CBar, but it looks like there's enough space to move 4 of those trees a coupe of pixels to the left Would that work?

It might be worth adding another tree to the line between Public 9/ Public 10, right next to the OBar - just to cover up that small line which just looks a little bit clumsy.

I don;t know if this is just my eyes, but there appear to be some blurry pixels to the left of the map border, where horizontalish lines intersect with it. This is really confusing, even though I expect it's just an optical illusion!

Ok... I've long felt that the map has something graphically a bit "off", and I've been wondering what it is that makes me feel that way... Now I think I have it:

The background (by which I'm referring to the texture of the public areas). The colour and texture of the background is just something that makes the rest of the map look dirty, somehow. Those grey and pale yellow/green hues create a sickly overtone, which hurts the whole map.

I bet it would look better with shades of grey only. This is just a suggestion, but I hope you'll at least try out some other colour and texture combinations.
