Then let me enlighten you ! If we didn't get that "awwwh" feeling we would be more likely to kill baby animals. And if we killed them as baby's we would get less meat than if we kill them as adults. So I don't think it's a misfire at all. Being nice to strangers is a misfire but liking baby animals is just good business !

I'm not really convinced. This assumes we somehow had the opportunity to kill the same animal as an adult that we let live as a kid? That really isn't true in general. In nature, you usually take whatever meat you can when you can.
