You know, i think i am repeating myself. I doubt i've had an original thought since 1995.
But I cant prove unicorns do not exist. I could search everywhere, and say to you "look, i've searched evrywhere but i cant find uni anywhere".
And maybe, unbeknownst to me, there is one near the earths crust (its magical, so it doesnt burn).
So you're right, it is extremely hard to prove things dont exist.
So in the end, you use your senses and the available data to make the best possible guess.
And to my mind, there is NO data to suggest there is a God, so its irrational to believe.
But He might be in the earths crust, laughing at me and finding another use for the unicorns horn...

HOW DOES THIS PROVE GOD?

All it does prove is the writers of the bible possessed eyes and ears that interfaced correctly with their brain to produce an image of the world around them. They then also possessed acurate enough motor functions to record their image in the form of written word.

This does no prove god in any way, shape or form. I could describe what I see, write it doen, age it for 2000 years and then, if those items I described were found to exist, that would not automatically turn me into god.

Beastly, you're not making any sense. At least some of the others try.

ANd indeed, there has never neen a convincing rebuttal of solipsism (which is where your argument will eventually take you, ie to the statement that i cant prove that anything else exists apart from myself, so only I exist). it is very difficult to prove that anything exists at all (see Descartes Evil Genius argument).
But, although you cant prove it, its a very difficult positon to live ones life by, and not go insane.
Its just unhelpful to living, just like like believing in unicorns.

I'm explaining it as much as Beastly is. I don't need it explained more to me, since she did a perfectly adequate job at explaining it, even though I haven't read the bible (I'm not allowed to read religious texts, you see...).

My lord are you that stupid? There is no God. No is negative. Therefor, the comment "There is no God" is stating something is negative. It's impossible to prove negatives. Therefor, you cannot prove that there is no God.

You cannot, ever prove that something does not exist. It's quite simple. Since you never observe the whole of the universe at any given time, or even better all the time, you can never prove something does not exist or existed.

You can't prove something doesn't exist, but you can deny something that does exist. Yet you can't prove it, but yet you insist on evidence that something does exsist in order to believe....

And then when several things are shown as possible, you still deny it.

How can you deny something that you don't believe in?
