Jay, and all you other believers in God and creationism, are all dumbfucks, but especially jay. The universe expanding, which is happening as I type this, is proof of the big bang. Jay how about you watch a show called The Universe on the History Channel, you might learn a thing or two about outer space and how it all formed.
On a note completely different, Jay you piss me off a lot. All you ever say is that God created everything, and when we contradict that, you say 'And where did this "energy" come from?' Well where did this God come from huh??

Good show, paradice. That's where that post of mine came from.

Sorry to piss you off, not my intent. I don't think anything would be here if something out there is not eternal. Now, an eternal something being a given. What is it? Well, I think it must be all-powerful with the ability to create from nothing. (or the creation of anything would be impossible) This is why God only fits the bill. God, is eternal. God has no beginning or end.

During the Big Bang, a majority of the elements were created by all the gravity and reactions and such. That is what created things.

You seriously don't understand the concept of their being no time. There is no before. Shit begins, and it begins with every energy and every atom in a single clump. There is no before.

Says the PhD from Harvard.
That doesn't even make sense.

It doesn't make sense to people who don't think, like you. It makes sense to scholarly people, like unriggable and me.

Yes it does. Time as we know it started with the big bang. That's the idea.

The universe is eternal.

The means only makes sense to you because you have to justify the end (your gods).
The universe has always been here. It is eternal and infinite. It was not "created", it has always been here. It has no beginning or end
Why is that so hard for you too understand?
joecoolfrog wrote:Seems that there are quite a few loonies who believe in it

Cults are very persistent.

I agree with that. During the big bang, hydrogen combined with hydrogen to create helium. Helium combined with another hydrogen and made lithium. So on and so forth, until heavier and heavier elements were made. When they cooled, they formed galaxies and stars.

Thats why the argument is not logic, Jay. You can logically argue that there must have been something eternal at the start of it all. That could be the big bang, God, Backglass's leprechaun or my chimp with a top hat.
Each of those things has the ability to create something from nothing.

Gravity is eternal! You nailed it! Oh wise one! Nothing created gravity, it just "was".

Yeah, nobody but me believes in creation. Your false statements do NOT add to your credibility.

Yes, something has to be eternal.
So instead of believing that the universe is eternal, you believe that a magical creature created the universe and that creature is eternal. Why exactly? What exactly is the logic behind that?
Why don`t you take it one step further and believe that the non-eternal universe was created by a non-eternal creature that was created by an eternal being?

It is highly improbable that god exist because he/she/it is too complex.
(P1) Extremely complex phenomena that cannot even in principle be explained as arising from simpler, more fundamental principles are extremely improbable.
(P2) God is by definition a being that is a) conscious, and b) fundamental in the sense that he is not evolved or derived from anything more fundamental.
(P3) Conscious beings are necessarily extremely complex.
(I1) From (P2a) and (P3), God is extremely complex.
(I2) God cannot even in principle be explained as arising from simpler, more fundamental principles since, from (P2b), God is defined as being fundamental.
Conclusion: The existence of God is extremely improbable [from (P1), (I1), and (I2)].
