Although Alabama handled them easier they had them off a week were they were beat by Georgia and they had some momentum going into the florida game
It wasn't just the Arkansas game. Florida hasn't played like the #1 team at any point this season. Alabama has played the best week in and week out.

so Im at work and we were discussing possible outcomes for the title game (Rose Bowl) this year, and I formulated this one, which may not be the highest %age plausible but its college football anything can happen.
And the more I think of it the more I want it to be this, thought I'd share.
First off I live in Florida, so everyone is either Gator or Dawgs fans. I'm from Texas so I'm a Longhorn fan, of course, and my other buddy is from Cali so he is a USC fan.
With the way Florida has been playing , against LSU and Arkansas I dont think they deserve that number 1 spot, but their the top team and you cant argue that they dont deserve to be there or deserve to be removed without someone taking them down. Either way I think they have been playing like crap, so the scenario goes. Georgia beats Florida in the Florida Georgia game right around the corner. Of course Georgia aint no prize chicken, you never know what Georgia team will show up, but if Cox can do decent, and Greene goes off like you know he can, especially in a big game and Florida continues playing like this, then this could happen.
So Florida loses to Georgia, probably drop to like 10 or 11, who cares really, out of contention for the title, and then you got the likely suspects of Bama, Texas and USC in the mix. Cause I dont think you can even consider sending Iowa, Cincy or Boise State to the National Championship.
But Bama plays Florida in the SEC title game, and Florida comes to play for no other reason but to mess Bama's title hopes all up. Florida wins, another long shot, cause I actually think it will be Bama vs Texas in the NC. But continuing on.
Then results could pan out to be Texas vs USC in the rose bowl. To let Colt McCoy do a Vince Young impersonation and win it all.
Hey it could happen..lol

In that scenario I think the BCS is more likely to put the one-loss Florida team in the NC than USC.
I'm personally hoping for an Alabama-Texas match up, since there's no way that the Dawgs would make it (hoping they at least beat Florida, Auburn and Tech and win their bowl game)

Yeah I think that Ohio State loss this weekend hurt USC's chances.

More than that even, the SEC's being looked on now as a very strong division and in most scenarios I think a one loss SEC team would get in over a one loss PAC 10 team (although the PAC 10 is very good and even more so this year than last). It's also very possible that USC could lose a second game as there are more good teams to contend with in the PAC 10 this year.

No doubt I see Oregon at Oregon giving them a fit

That and Cal's not going to be a push over either. USC is already close ot being a 2 loss team maybe even 3 loss with late wins at Notre Dame and OSU.

I agree but I think they will get Cal, maybe a tough one for them, but the Oregon game I think they have to show up and play flawless to win.. Do you live on here..

In Tuscaloosa...
#1Alabama 12 Tennessee 10
Bama blocks two 40+yard Vols' field goal attempts to win... the second on the last play of the game.
Don't know what Tennessee was thinking... with a 1st down on the Alabama 35 they did next to
nothing to advance closer and give their kicker a better chance. Vols were 1/4 on field goals.
Iowa 15 Michigan State 12
The Hawkeyes score 12 points in the Fourth Quarter including a TD on the final play of the game.
Air Force 16 #19Utah 23 FINAL in OT
Clemson 40 #8Miami 34 FINAL in OT

Correction Iowa 15-13 over Mich. St. And Clemson 40-37 in OT.
Florida and Alabama survive close games (teh Florida game looked close and was closer than it looked).
The Alabama game was the most entertaining game i've seen all year. Give Tennessee credit they stepped up to play Alabama and it was only because of a kicker still trying to recover from an injury that they didn't walk away with the win. Ingram lost his first fumble ever to put Tennessee back in the game. I have to admit though this game was a bit tough to watch for a while as the announcers brought up the Georgia-Tennessee game every 2 minutes...
Florida meanwhile should have beaten Miss. St. by at most 3 as both referees and replay officials miss the interceptor fumbling the ball before he scored (after that game i think it's fair to call SEC refs the worst in not only college football but anywhere in professional/college sports). That being said I didn't find the refs in that game to have a huge Florida bias, but I did see a large amount of missed and no calls that could have gotten either way. Long story short, I hope Tebow does not have a rushing touchdown against Georgia next week I will accept them beating us by as much as 52-0 if it means that Tebow does not break Walker's record against Georgia.
After this week I would imagine the polls would look something like this...
BCS
1. Florida
2. Texas (maybe leap frog Florida but...)
3. Bama
AP
1. Bama
2. Texas
3. Florida
once again a case where florida or texas could easily be named #1.
My poll I keep Bama #1 simply because Florida wasn't super impressive over Miss St. and I don't like having any teams jump over 2 teams that didn't lose even if those two teams maybe did just eeke out a win.

Well... look out for this young Tennessee team who played great games away
against both Florida and Alabama... and actually should have won both.
This bit of experience should make them tougher to beat next year.
The top three all played good opponents today and Texas @ Missouri was
easily the most impressive win. TCU rocked BYU's world too.
next week:
Georgia @ Florida
LSU @ Alabama
Texas @ Oklahoma State
San Jose State @ Boise State
Cincinnati @ Syracuse
UNLV @ TCU
Indiana @ Iowa
USC @ Oregon
Wyoming @ Utah

Though, too Wyoming's credit (defense at least) we held Air Force to well below their average points per game.

Some definite looking big games next week. I'm glad to see Miami fall---and I was hoping for USC to fall as well. Both I'd like to see out of the top ten. Same goes with LSU as well...if only...

what pathetic games by Florida and Alabama. Anybody think my scenario cant happen out now with it being Texas and USC? USC needs to come to play vs Cal and Oregon, and they should win out, and Florida and Bama continue that mediocre play and they could easily both take a loss.
P.S. I decided that I am quitting my day job, Im going to go ref for the SEC and get on Florida's payroll.

I HATE LOU HOLTZ. I need to say this. He seriously annoys me. He can't talk, I don't like his insight, I have absolutely NO use for the man. He needs to retire, or learn to swallow, or something, he drives me mad.

Well, last time UW went up against a ranked team, it was Texas, lost, badly in the second half, but of the first half was of anything, well, I think we may just have a chance. Plus, Wyoming historically has a good rate of coming off of a bye-week very well.
