If we manage to get 128 players to sign up, I will award 12 months of Premium Membership to the tournament winner.

If we manage to get 256 players to sign up, I will award 12 months of Premium to the winner, and 6 months to the 2nd and 3rd classified. (24 months in total)

If we get only between 64 and 127 players, the tournament will take place, but without any prize.

Hi all! I created an Excel file to easily track the tournaments I participate in, and spent some time making it look pretty, so I thougt that I could make a tournament to share it with the rest of the people here in CC.

Theme:
The theme for this tournament is: It is not enough to win once. Players have also to be better during all games. 2nd place receives only 1 point less than 1st place, and all places have only 1 point difference between themselves. A player that didn't win but ended 2nd and 3rd in all his games could well be the first in the group and progress to the next phase.

An additional theme is colourful regular updates during the full tournament duration (Excel does it for me, so it really does not represent much work at all ;-) ). And the other details:

  • Total Players: 64/128/256 (depending how many people are interested in the tournament)
  • Players per game: 8.
  • Map: Every player selects his own preference (it has to be an 8-players map and cannot be a beta map).
  • Game type: Each pleyer selects among Standard or Terminator.
  • Play Order: Sequential.
  • Spoils: Each player selects his own preference.
  • Reinforcements: Each player selects his own preference.
  • Fog of War: No.

In each phase, players will be divided in groups of 8. Each group will play 8 games, one game per player. Each player will be able to choose (almost) all settings for his "home" game (as described above) and will be forced to play with the other players' settings when playing "away".

Scoring:
Each player will be awarded a certain number of points per game depending on his position in that game:

Image

Or to say in other words, each player will get as many points as eliminations he survives in the game. No bonus points for being the first player. I have nothing against "winner takes it all" and "winner takes almost all" games. I just thougt it would be nice to try a different approach for a change. The winner only takes a little bit more than the second player.

In maps with objective, if a player wins, then all the losing players that are still alive get eliminated at once. For example, in a map with 3 remaining players, if one of them gets the objective, he gets 7 points and the other two remaining players get 5 points each.

If players get eliminated the same turn, the last player to be eliminated is still considered to "survice" the other one. This means that the winning player can choose the best order to eliminate his opponents.

Progressing to the next phase:
After all games are finished, the four players with most points will progress to the next phase. Tie breakers will be decided by:
- The player with highest overall score in all the tournament (except during the first phase).
- The player with lowest CC score at the moment of joining (players with higher score are expected to win more points).
- In the unlikely case that there is still a tie, a tie breaker game will be created.

Winning the tournament:
The player with the most points after the final 8 games will be the tournament winner. The same tie breaker criteria will be applied if needed.

Assigning groups:
Players will be assigned to groups depending on their skill (also done automatically by Excel ;-) ). Best players will be assigned to different groups, to avoid them fighting each other until the final phase.

As an example, in semifinals phase, group 1 will be assigned players ranked 1st,3st,5th,7th,10th,12th,14th, and 16th. And group 2 will be assigned players 2nd,4th,6th,8th,9th,11th,13th, and 15th.

In the first phase "skill" means "CC score". In the second and following phases "skill" means overall tournament score.

Reserves:
For the first round, no reserves needed. If a player fails to join a game, another game will be created without him, and he will be awarded 0 points for that game.

For the second and next rounds, if a player fails to join the first game, reserves will be taken from the best qualified players that did not pass the previous round. If a player fails to join second and following games, then a new game without him will be created and he will get 0 points.

How to join:
Post in this thread stating:
- Your name
- Your score
- Your choosen map (8 players, not beta)
- Standard/Terminator
- No Spoils/Flat/Escalating
- Chained/Adjacent/Unlimited

Sorry, but I don't think it's fair to change the rules when many players have already signed. But I promised that if I organize a second tournament I will accept FoW there

You are in the list. But now I realize that sorting by score makes more difficult to find your name. I will sort it alphabetically

172 players! Last day has been a huge boost to the tournament. Thanks all!

I changed the player lists to alphabetic sort. So it will be much easier for everybody to find his / her name there.
