Kap - Here's my 2 cents.
You still need to work on that lake. It doesn't fit in with the land around it. Try and follow the contour of the border... Like this:

The background is okay to me. It's not knock-you-out great, but it's okay. Much better than previous attempts (I like the full saturation map also, not the desaturated one).
The map looks flat. I see you have a dark shadow around the main land area, but I like how the bevel looks around that river up north. Could you try and bevel the entire map like that, so it's no so flat looking?
I think you should lose the blended images behind your territories. It doesn't look good. I really like your gradients you used, and the bonus region colors. Purple / Gray / Green / Orange / Blue. I've always been a fan of the color choice. I feel it's just me and you though Kap.
Basel should not be a floating territory not attached to anything. I would make it a part of the gray (Bern Dominion) region. Then also make the Jura into Gray also. Then I would switch the bonuses to look like this:

Whew... I'll break for now. But I'll be wathing you Kap!
(edit) 1 more thing.. I like the jagged look of your borders (white territory ones), but if you can, I would adjust them a bit to allow room for some of your circles & names. It's a little confusing up north. I'm all for correct geography, but this is a board game, and sometimes borders have to moved.

Au contraire mon ami. Your last referendum was like 51% against and 49% for membership right? It's just a matter of time.
We'll speak in 20 years' time anyway...stay alive!

Kap I feel like there is to much dead space on this map, I would suggest either you try and fill them with the flavour on switerland or try and reduce the map size to fit everything in a little more snug.

Not really it was before EU extended to 15 so some 10 or 15 years ago with something like 35% for it entering EEE not EU and since not even the most conviced politician dare to say it loud! but for my self i'm a pro...

Hi again,
Thx for the changes. I find them good, but now I have some other inputs
Rivers and lakes: Switzerland has due to the alps, the sources (origins) of some of the major rivers in europe: the Rhine starts somewhere in Thusis, and forms the border with Austria and Germany.... and then in the north of Switzerland you have the southern border of the lake of Konstanz forming part of the border with Germany. So from Chur around the border to Basel there should be a river (or north of Thurgau a lake).... And then in Basel the river heads north to the northern sea.
Then in Ticino you have 1 or 2 lakes, plus some rivers going south.....
Then almost at the frontier between Brig and Ticino start the Rhone which goes into the "lac leman" (situated between Geneva, Lausanne and the Valais, forming part of the frontier with France, south of Vaud). Then, when the lake ends in Geneva, the Rhone goes on south-west....
Mountains: to the north of Vaud, Neuchatel and Jura, the frontier with France is a Mountainious (dont know how to spell that

) region, the Jura-Mountain range.... Put that there, at the frontier with Switzerland, and for me this map will much more look like switzerland.
Maybe you wanna show that the whole Graubünden is mountain-region, the north of Ticino, Sion and Brig and also most of inner Switzerland are mountain regions too.... and the rest is more or less flat, green... dont know, maybe that might give you some ideas.
if I have some other ideas i'll be back.
Thx a lot for the effort you make.
cheers
ueli, the swiss

Yes. It is. But I was mainly referring to the bonus regions.

v22
[bigimg]http://i30.tinypic.com/2cyfdy.jpg[/bigimg]
I think i got all of them...
I made some BG changes and I added a bevel to the land. I changed some borders for more room, and i put Basel into Gray. Mibi never said what he liked about version 5, so im assuming its the picture. I put that BG picture back in, but the opacity is lower than it was. Because of everything going on in the BG, i removed the pictures from Switzerland.
RJ, i kept Jura in Romadie because of geographical reasons.
ueli, i really like the game-play right now....do you think it would be ok (geographically) if i didnt add those rivers and mts?
I think that's it, tell me what i missed and what you dont like now.

I think mibi means that he should either stick with the flag as a background or else with the mountains...not use both on top of each other. Am I right mibi?

I applied a semiological approach on mibi's text to decode what his message meant.

there's nothing wrong with the game play, I just thought that by adding those rivers/lakes/mountains the map will feel more Swiss. In fact, I made the excercise to draw a map of switzerland by hand, from scratch.... and what I personnaly did right after trying to find the right shape (that's THE most particular thing of course), I tried to draw the major lakes and rivers....
My suggestion was intended to NOT alter the game play, since the just make up the borders...

Add something that shows it's neutrality, add the bank of zurich, invent some gamplay that could make the map more than just a geographical map.

OK. completely classic.
Zurich Region should only be 4 or the middle one should be increased to 5, they both have the same ammount of borders.
You should probably get a connection (train network?), have some connection to fighting in groups what's the name. "guerilla"? maybe draw some small armies on their for aestetic reasons. And a few buildings where the cities are.

I'm not sure there is much guerilla warfare in Switzerland (Suisse, surely?) - it's more noted for its neutrality than anything else!
Here's my off-the-wall suggestion - have ALL the territories start neutral, so that nobody can attack anywhere. This would pretty much reflect the real-world political view!
