The Chess Map has reached the
‘Final Forge’ Stage. The map has passed rigorous gameplay and graphics examinations, and major concerns have been addressed. If you have any other concerns, please make your voice heard. If after a reasonable amount of time there has not been any objection or protest, the map will be deemed finished with the 'Foundry Brand' of approval and will be submitted for live play. As long as there is still discussion or posts that have yet to be commented on, the map will remain in
Final Forge until said discussion has reached the conclusion that the map has reached its final and polished version.
Post questions and concerns if any.

Cool. I still have to get off my ass and do XML, but other than that I think we're good. Thanks Benn.

My apologies guys, school started and I caught up with busy work... once I think of it again and I've got time I'll take care of this.

I'll take that as a request to put the map onto vacation.
I think there are only a couple of minor amendments outstanding - once an update has been made, one of the foundry moderators will happily move this map back into the final forge

yes, I saw that. I didn't realize that meant here though. Recycle bin doesn't seem the place for a map being given a break from the foundry, thought maybe that meant it had been completely abandon since then

Where would you rather put them then? Recycling bin is the best place for them actually. They're not in the way here, other forums are way too crowded to accommodate them, and if some of the maps get abandoned after being put on vacation, then they're already in the right place as well.

true, true. just thought recycle bin was for completely abandon maps.

Not abandoned! I'll be using
this fantastic tool to make the XML and then hopefully this can get going.

I made some extra changes to the legend that might make it easier to understand, but other than that it is pretty much the same as the last version.

Any last suggestions before I make a small version and do the XML?
Also, can a mod please move this back to the Final Forge?

why army circles? and why so small?

I was wondering that as well. If memory serves the reason for them was difficulty seeing armies on top of pieces, but maybe you could only have the circles above the chess pieces?
Either way, I'm verrryy excited for this map to be finished!

IMO it would be inconsistent to only have shadows on the pieces. But they definitely need to be there, because it's hard to see the armies otherwise.

I see you've crept back into the Forge
The red eye on the black knight bugs me. Particularly as there is no black knight on the game board

Has nobody picked up on that before?

Would swapping one of the black pawns for a black knight cause any gameplay problems?

That's there just for fun.
Making a pawn into a knight would cause imbalance and cause one color to have a higher bonus than the other. I already got the gameplay stamp so I'd rather not change anything now that is not purely cosmetic.
